I can't help but think about 17's and a slipper clutch...

What an incredible machine!
I don't think it is so far away. Last years S2 champ here in Sweden has entered the S1 class this year and I'm hoping he will get a chance to race the 09 450 in at least one race this year.

What has happened to the article Kelsow posted and the stuff burnman had ??

Hi Jocke, have you seen or heard of the 570 in action or testing yet ?

It seems to be hiding still

Last Friday I actually skipped work and went to 'Berg R&D and got to take the 570 for a.... well, I sat on it. And started it up. Somehow they have managed to keep the wining noise we all have come to love so much

It feels so great to sit on, knee position, bars and everything. Lots of cool solutions for seat release, air filter release etc. With two really fast moves, no tools, you have released the seat and filter and is looking right down into the head. The bike actually looks incredible.

From what I heard the specs of the 450 is set but they are still trying out various cams on the 570. The styling is set, they will look exactly as the Milan bike except for the tank. The stock one will be gray and semi transparent. It actually looks kind of "well used" from the start. All 3318 of the bikes (~2/3 450) to be made have been sold. From KTM to importers all over the world, that is. Talk about success...

The big difference for one of the guys is the way the new rear shock works. It makes the ride soooo smooth, even jumps with a nasty kick is taken care of in a way the current model isn't even close to.

There will be a slip on from akrapovic but no full system. The header isn't round all the way so I guess the tools for making a ti-header will be to expensive.

The prototypes have been running for some 70-80hrs and not one reported malfunction on the E-start (except for the loose cable in Spain, was it Spain) :D

The 570 had a lambda sensor mounted but that isn't going into production. Don't remember what parameters (temps/pressures) would be taken into consideration. But there will be no more re-jetting in winter or when going in high altitudes :D

Do you guys think my GF will leave me if I start selling our stuff and only eating pasta+ketchup so I'll be able to get me a new beast

Hi Jocke, thats great thanks for the feedback its excellent, I think I will put an order in for another one then if so few 570's are going to be made !! I have been told my 570 is going to be here early November

Hi Jocke, could you please have a word to your R&D mates and see what the story will be re the fuel injection and adding extra fuel tanks.

Will this be a problem ? is the fuel pump in the tank or seperate ? so can external extra tanks be joined into the fuel line system etc

Thanks

There is no question about ... just do not forget to add some grated cheese ...

Cheers, Goran

Thanks for your thanks 8)

I'll try to get the add on tank question on to the appropriate people.

I read in a column Ljunggren writes sometimes in a swedish paper that the EFI in the last round of the SEC (SweEnduroChamps) got a hickup that made him think the engine was going bust. It backfired and sounded really nasty. Then he crashed and when restarting it it ran great again. He won the event with over 5mins.
Between races he has also been busy trying out the EFI on the 570. Two Austrians and one japanese (I'm guessing from Keihin) were here in Sweden a couple of weeks ago and they had Jocke ride the 570 for three days with a backpack with a computer in it.

Björne used the 570 in the last WEC by the way if anyone missed that.

Here is another pic from the SuMo race in Germany. Looks great to me 8) 8O

Jocke : you give super information!!!!

I hope to hear soon more about the 570 beast

Madero
Thanx :D

In the latest pic you can see how the tank will look. The tank is the grey part and I'm not sure what goes behind the black piece of plastic. Maybe the battery.

Jocke: Will there be any of these at the SM round in Östersund next weekend? are you going? I might go, but without the bike.

Jocke,

Thanks for the great inside information.

And yes, I missed the fact that Bjorne rode the new 570 in the last WEC. I saw that he had competed but had now way to tell if he was on the old bike or not.

Regarding the hiccup........... I suppose that if one is going to find a situation where a set of circumstances will find a hidden glitch in the programing, it will be a person who rides at JL's level is going to find it. I bet that when it backfired the computer really didn't like that. Hopefully with a thorough post race debrief with the engineers, and what ever info was stored in the computer in the way of error codes they will be able to determine the cause of the fault.

And from the sounds of it, they are seriously testing the engine soft ware, which is great.

The picture looks good. Maybe it's right after a race because the chain looks a tad too loose. What do you think?

If Husaberg chains require adjustment similar to KTM chains, then ...no, the chain does not look too loose.

Probably no 2009 in Östersund. I asked if the swedish Sumo riders would get the 2009s this year and the answer was not for racing. To much development is in this years FS race bikes to risk anything. They are still fighting for the red plate you know. Maybe there will be some testing but no racing.
I'm not competing at all this year (except for one race in the KTM690 supermono cup) since I'm so involved in my SVEMO (Swedish motorcycle federation) work and lots of other stuff.

I'm not sure that when racing they logg all that much info. I haven't seen any logging equipment on race bikes. Maybe error codes, like you say, but no major logging like the test I wrote about earlier.

At some races, when Martin Lind pits with the Highland there are a small army (well... 1-3...) of SW guys hooking up laptops to his onboard logging unit. For me, as a SW developer, it looks like the best job in the world :D
