Any suggestions as to what modifications are recommended for a stock FE. Given my experience with a 450EX/C, a steering damper is tops on my list.

I read your other post, your bike at 36 hrs is brand new. Just change the oil, learn how to check your valves though if it starts good at 36 hours my expereince is valves are fine. no hurry to do that or have mechanic check the bike. JUST RIDE IT the bikes are very reliable....go RIDE>

welcome to UHE mate and enjoy. would appreciate you putting your location and model up in your signature. like bob i read your other posts and see you're on a '05 550FE.

you don't need a steering damper on any husaberg. it's rare to find one fitted but there are exceptions. i would rather go to a set of 18mm offset yokes (with more stability as if 'the rock' needs it) and take the better flik-flak in the corners.

look in comfort on the owner's doc and i think sumpguard and barkbusters are the obvious two. i also would fit forged apico levers.

Ducky,

de restrict the FE end cap, and if you are in an area where noise is less of a prob, find an aftermarket or FC (MX) type end cap / muffler core, that will net you a noticable change in bottom end. I got the Prorider KTM end cap $150 Aus. there was one on ebay the other day - search under KTM.

Im going to try adjusting the carby AP (accelerator pump) timing sometime soon.

otherwise just ride it - I am considering a steering dampner, but cant afford it yet.

Azza.

if set up right they don't need a damper .. but , the damper makes them easier to ride and reduces arm pump .

my choice is the damper [ ohlins ] .

Lineaweaver jet kit, acell pump limiting mod as per Taff and the doc,Lineaweaver vent valve mod(Chrysler pn 04300376) and gear it down a bit. That's about all I found I needed other than some suspension fiddling.

Thanks for the advice guys, and great forum by the way. I'm finding the Husaberg community to be very welcoming. Cheers.

The Bergs are great. I got an 07 just over a year ago and fast tracked my setup based on what I'd learnt over the years. A story of sorts is here:

and in my gallery are some pics of what i did:

None of it is necessary, but for me it all incrementally adds up to a better bike. I ride a lot of rocky stuff and that make the steering damper a good thing and a proper suspension setup starting with the right springs really worth the effort.

Enjoy
Steve
