FE550 Test Ride ?

I'm not expecting an overwhelming response here but thought I would throw it out there. I sold my 520 a few months ago and plan to purchase a new bike around the August time frame. My dilemna is that I would like to purchase the FE550 but need to take it for a test ride prior to committing the funds. The 2 dealers in NC don't have any demo bikes and I checked with Brett and Husaberg doesn't have any demo days, other than dealer sponsored. Is there anyone somewhat near NC that would be willing to let me throw a leg over their 550 in exchange for my 250sx for a few minutes? I know handing your bike over to someone else, especially a stranger is unlikely but thought I would ask. Thanks.

I don't think it that much of a longshot. I have offered my bikes up many time for demo rides, it's only come back bent up or with plastic dangling a few times. Mst every person that rode my fe470 proceeded to pull the front wheel up in 3rd gear and wheelie out of site, that made me cringe, but no one ever lost it. Word to the wise, don't abuse a demo bike. I have also had many strangers ask me to take their bike out for a spin to see what I thought, althought that is often for suspension settings or jetting recommendations.

No abuse, wheelies, etc... here, just would like to feel the ergonomics and the power delivery on a flat surface. Thanks.

It feels like a 525 KTM with a big bore kit to me as I have a 05 550.
The power is a little more in most parts of the power band and it will pull a 525 in a drag. The turning is better than the KTMs up to the 05 models,but I understand that the 06 KTMs are now as good at turning as the Bergs.
I feel Husaberg has worked out the reliability problems and you have no risk with that issue. When you give a warranty for a year you place the company on the line, so that says to me that they know the bugs are gone.
I just wanted a little more snap out of mine for moto and went from the 15 counter to the 14 and it is much improved for offroad and moto.

i also own a 2005 525 and a 04 fe 550. i much prefer the 550 in every aspect. the power is quite noticable for the extra 40cc. the 525 is up for sale. come to crested butte and wheelie in 4th at 10000 feet. get a berg.
