What is the stock jets? I ride at low rpm and I think it get too much fuel.
And needle clips position.

There wasn't an FE470e produced in 2001. Its either a FXe or FCe. The lights would have been added by the dealer or purchaser.

Standard jetting is the same for both models:

Dellorto PHM 40

Main 190
Needle jet Dr266
Needle K35
Needle clip position #3
Pilot 33
Start jet 45
Mixture screw 1 1/2 turns

we are working on a 2002 fx 470 at the moment .trying to fine tune its starting/running ect.and i was trying to determine how it was jetted compared to stock as the mixture screw on this bike seemed to have no affect on how the bike runs.could not tell what # needle was in it as the markings had worn out .the needle clip was full rich positioned and that made no sense to me. the mainjet was a 190.any way i looked in the 2002 owners manual and the it says the stock needle is a k 51 in the 3rd position and the main jet is a 190 and the pilot jet is a 33.i also took a look in the 2001/2002 parts manual .it shows the needle to be a k35 in the 3rd position and the pilot a 33 and the mainjet a 185.now the bike has a spark arrestor in the muffler as it is a fx as the fc model does not come with a sparky.also on a different note, does a fe 501 of the same vintage come with the same needle and similar jetting?you would think i would know this but it is hard to remember everything and when the information that we have avail is not consistently the same it really becomes a challenge.dan.

welcome to UHE and it's great to have yet another swede on board!

the 470 has a /30 slide cutaway and the 'off-the bottom' hit is very, very viscious! the thing i advise is that you might like to try a /40 cutaway. this will definately soften it. you can even do this yourself with a file. PM me and i'll run through it!

just recently a rider tried a different 'cam' in the throttle grip and said that it was superb! softened the bottom up.

can someone find the link?

regards

Taffy
