Well I survived my first real enduro. ran family enduros before but this was the real thing: 94 miles of tight single track, some fire roads and some nasty rocky off camber crap, some rock climbs and more and more woods single track. I am beat. Did ok I guess last in my class but only half the super seniors finished all the checks so I DID finish it all

the bike is a hunny ran perfect all day long. I changed the air filter in like 1 minute at the gas check. It was semi dusty so I packed a new filter with my gas. The 10 lbs lighter that this bike is compared with other E start 450s' is amazing difference, when your hurting and need to muscle the bike around some god awful switchback, the husaberg just slides around point and GO. then it climbs like a tractor and is fast in the straights.

REALLY very happy with my proven enduro machine! :thumb:

Amazing isn't it. It is a great bike for a beginner, yet the faster you ride or the nastier it gets, the more the Hbg shines!

congrats Bob. 94 miles of single track can be a long day.

i don't know what all this talk about 450's is all about  . i raced the mighty 550 in idaho city over the weekend (200+ miles of fun twisty singletrack, with a couple semi-technical sections). the bike was flawless, and the easiest motorcycle i have ever ridden.

i got a chance to put some time on two different ktm 450's earlier in the week. my conclusions:
1) underpowered
2) overweight
3) top-heavy

i can think of precisely zero advantages to a 450 for me in any conceivable situation.

Great job Bob! Sorry I missed you at the finish, we went down to where you were staged but they said you had left already. Hopefully my result will help your trophy chances. I was just glad to make through the water without incident.

What about a 250 4t with an uber bling graphics kit and a nissin mc?

Mark, the 550 is the right machine for you. 550 is a great single tracker and the 450 sucks in the desert IMO

I did not do very good in the enduro...7th place out of 13 in my class, the last 6 of my class dnf'd, but I DID FINISH and the 450 was awesome all day, rode from 830 am till 3 pm exhausted me, but the bike was flawless

I ripped through the Water Crossing though.

I understand you had excellent conditions in Idaho. Glad you had a good ride. That place is perfect for a 550, however in places that TM and I ride, to race a 550 takes quite a man, and even that man will go faster with less effort on a 450.

Bob you da man :D :D

However the debate goes, its good to see us argueing over which berg is better vs the arguement of which brand is good competition to a berg, which we all know, does not exist

Just did the Tee-pee run here in oregon(20 mile night run and 40 mile hard run) and had a ton of fun, and endless suply off berm-stew and lots of nasty mud/rocks. loved the Berg, preformed flawlessly and not one KtM passed me!!!

yeah I didn't rejet yet, bike ran great, but as I said I'm ready to go leaner....soon and I still need to install my husaberg force fan kit, been sitting here for 2 months..........so now I'll do that and check the valves again too, I must be at like 50 hours on the bike.

Some enduro guys, the real ones, were standing around my bike at the start line up of bikes and riders, talking all about it. And many KTM and other fixed seat riders watched me change my air filter in a minute at the mid day gas stop.

BigBoober you did great!! I look forward to seeing you on the start line again next year, when came past the finish and said the that famous BigBob line "F&%K YOU!!!" I felt good because I knew we kicked your arse!!!!! Hopefully next year we can get our may date back and it won't be so dusty.

I will post a link to our photos from the water crossing as soon as it's set up.

it's hard to imagine that, but i'm a wussy western guy i guess. while some of the idaho race was fairly open, quite a bit of it was pretty tight, lock-to-lock with ruts, roots, rocks, switchbacks that caused people to launch themselves down the hill, branches and shrubbery hanging everywhere, deadfall in inconvenient places, etc...

i also think my 550, with the lineaweaver jetting (AP disabled) might be a little less jumpy right off idle, which might make it easier to ride. then again, my idea of 'racing' is probably more like a spirited trail ride to real racers, so i'm not running into the same issues that a fast guy who is really pushing a bike to it's limits would. even when racing i'm short-shifting and trying to be smooth and the 550 seems to do that for me with no conscious effort.

it all looks good bb

now show us the snaps of you conquering kelsows 'crazy single track ' .

Hi there, I have just read the dirt rider 24 test on the 550 and they talk of the 450 they tested last year. they say the 450 felt lighter. If you had to choose between the 450 and the 550 what would you take. I prefer the 550 when I ride down the street and a bit of dirt near the shop, but have not tested the two in an endouro. Since you like the 501 if you had to go up or down apart from pamela anderson would you pick the 450 or 550?
