FE450 2005 bogging

With that plate in carb
I know that a lot of people when clean the carb they put that slide upside-down.
Then the symptoms are very similar.

Poor bike!! Going buy the snow on the ground, outside temp is cold, try riding the bike for a bit with the choke on and allow the bike to warm up properly before trying to ring its neck. No gloves or outdoor clothing looks like youve just wheeled it out and fired it up, she wont behave if thast the case.

that engine is rattling!

slightly bent valves will do what is happening to your bike. the trouble is, they can break a valve spring which the owner replaces. he looks at the valve and says that it 'looks OK' but they are bent.

then they sell the bike because they don't want to remove the head again and they don't know what is wrong.

bent valve is my best shot. with a 182MJ you shouldn't have a bog anywhere.

it certainly won't be the slide plate and the rubber O ring and it won't need a squirt of fuel.

Hello Thaffy,

I hope it is not about valves :(
So do i have to replace all valves or only bent?

I warmed up the bike properly. Rode 10 min and recorded video.

Mine will still run cack even after ten mins.... if there running slightly lean and its cold, it will take a good run to warm up properly, like a thrashing in the woods, not up and down a road.

What i did to bike before,

I am currently riding 2 stroke and fe450 is reserve :)
I went to a sand race with this bike bu not raced only practiced. Later tight mud riding with friends.

Just cleaned and prepared to next ride. When i ride the bike again, i feel something wrong on bike. It was backfiring and was working lean. I see manifold cutted by clamp. It could be the problem. I have not been replaced it. I decided to make it SuperMoto and parapered a part list. List also had freewheel.

I made a mistake, when trying to install freewheel. Kickstart spring throwed but i could not understand. See it, when i finished all jobs. Again i removed everything.

I was mad and i forgot adjust timing notches. I puched the elecktric start and it was not rolling. Piston kissed valves i think. I said f..kkkkk. Thank goodness! my battary was so low and old so it was not rolled powerfull. Made compression test and compression was good.

Changed manifold rubber, cleaned carb and setted, checked valve clerance.

Bike was in good condition while the last sand-mud riding.

Today i backed to old settings. Needle clip to 3rd ohhhh it was soo leannn. I need to full open iddle screw. Backfiring :) Also tested without airfilter, so oilyfilter, full closed fuel mixture. Still lean.

Thanks to everyone.

Update

Just found a 42pj and installed it with 3 1/5 fuel screw turnout. 6th needle clip. It is still lean but working good.

Just look at those videos. But still wonder with taffy's words about valves.

First post here, guys. I've been helping the OP over at my motorcycle repair blog:

Here is the post with a bunch of comments of me and the OP trying to fix the problem. Scroll to the bottom for all the comments.

After seeing the past 2 videos, I believe the issue is a lean idle circuit. The first video shows that after the bike is revved up, the idle does not drop down at all, or very slowly. This is a classic symptom of a lean condition. Also, If you crank out the fuel screw to 2.5 or more, a larger pilot jet is required. The second video shows the bike responding nicely to the additional fuel. No more hanging idle. A larger pilot is still required since the fuel screw is out to far. Over 2.5 turns and you run the risk of the fuel screw working it's way out.

I have a vid on FCR fuel screw adjustment here:

https://www.howtomotorcyclerepair.com/how-to-4-stroke-mx-fuel-screw-adjustment-yzf-crf-kxf-rmz-fcr/

I also have a good read on pilot circuit here:

Thanks,
Matt
