Thanks for the website!I looked around a bit and didn't see a check-in thread, so figured I'd get it started.
How's everyone doing? What are you up to?

Still here, no Berg in the shed anymore.
Maybe that will change this summer![]()
Hi there, I've been through some heavy life changes for a while now.I looked around a bit and didn't see a check-in thread, so figured I'd get it started.

Looks like you have a 790 big bore kit in the DR? How do you like it compared to stock? Have you strengthened the evidently delicate transmission gears? No 'bergs in my shed anymore, except a banner and poster or two, and great memories. Arthritis said no more hard core, but I still love to get out exploring on 2 wheels, doing what is now called adventure riding. A bout of cancer and some new joints has slowed me down a bit in the last few years too, but hanging in there.
Got into DR650 Suzukis that have evolved a bit, and got an XT1200Z for pillioning with.

790 is great. I also fitted the only prototype Nova gearbox at the same time, having got involved with their development. Post a 10k km teardown a few changes were made and they went production. I've since fitted 3 more in other DRs, a nicer spread of ratios, a much sweeter change and hopefully more durable than the sometimes problematic stock setup.Looks like you have a 790 big bore kit in the DR? Nice bikes there, Steve.![]()
Right on! So, you were involved with developing the Nova gears, very cool! Sounds like you have one very nicely set up DR650.790 is great. Its also got a big valve head and 41 FCR and after a few frame breakages, a reengineered beefed up frame. Suspension is raised with WP CC forks and a longer Ohlins and 18" rim up back and lots of other tweaks to make it tough and a great adv bike for Oz.
I even managed to break the Tenere's frame, must be a message there somewhere.....
