that's the wheelie bar TomTom, they won't sell you the 610 + cam unless you promise to fit it

First time I've done this so if it sounds off let me know. Measurement taken at valve spring retainer, lift numbers I don't trust as it's impossible to get a straight shot at the retainer.

Cast light on the tatters of my ignorance! What is Ivo / Ivc / Evo / Evc? Intake/exhaust valve open/close? And duration is the range between those?
 
Kinda interesting to compare this with the gnarliest-by-far Web Cams available for the DR-Z, the ones that make ThumperTalk fall silent in respect and fear for your valve train if you fit them:

540 / 539 - Intake lift .384, duration 248. Exhaust lift .400, duration 256.

Kinda assuming the shock and awe is due to the DR-Z being rather pale in comparison to begin with :)
 
No that's not a wheelie bar it's a suicide shift/ drift lever.;)

From my limited knowledge tourist the duration @050 is a measurement of meaningful lift, the most important event is the IVC, what I didn't record but did observe was the viscous ramps on the cam, I can only imagine I will be replacing followers and valve springs before 200hrs.
 
A KTM tech wrote to me indirectly yesterday and said that the 450FX cam has more midrange with a slight loss in top end compared to the 570 cam. the loss matches the gain.

this can only bring you to one conclusion (unless you're FE350 of course) and that is that the lobe centres are different but for the same grind. (basically the same lobes as each other just spaced further apart or nearer in unison)

hopefully that has now put that one to bed.

With the intended timing Id agree, but if timed differently the KTM will make a tad more mid and same top end. BUT I dont think its worth it, if thats what you mean.

I did a bunch of simulation the other day and to get the 570 purring enough to make it worth while more lift is needed, but I cant see the valve train capable of that. Probably better to make the bike lighter at this point or something in that fashion yes.
Id love to see a straight shot port head, but as its gone out of production its just a dream...

I'm on about the two Husaberg cams TomTom. FE570e and FX450.

these cams are very short duration and the lobe centres are MX.

with the new parts numbering you can't tell what KTM have got without doing the grunt work yourself.

After doing these simulations Ive lost a bit of hope in doing a new cam profile, even tried the long duration type TR offers, and it was mainly down on mid with no more top end. This type of cam will be fun to ride as it kicks at the top, but not so much fun at a race being passed by a stock cammed bike...

Add more compression someone might say, problem is the combustion chamber is very good and can take a flat piston with the oem cam already, so without testing Id say a long duration here will just take mid down. All speculation being with a somewhat normal cam profile.
However if more lift can be acheived somehow, then it will take off.
250/260 duration 112/105 timing 11.5mm/10.5mm would be nice.

If there is someone here that has penetrated the valvetrain and can tell if it can take more lift, please let me know!

I am running the Web cams 820/821 RFS grind on my 663, had them make it custom for me - very crazy cam in my previously posted photo. Seems pretty peppy.

LMAO, What Taffy, Your magic beans jet kit wont solve all his cam issues? Who needs a beefy cam when you can install the jet kit?

Taff I am glad the KTM techs write you indirectly as one would really question KTM if it was directly. ;)
