This is similar to daves question + a bit more info.
Would it be possible for ALL the FCR equiped Bergs to offer up their individual jetting spec's, pipes, etc etc??????
I am really interested in seeing all the different combo's.
Thanks,
Scully

Disclaimer:

The above specifications were derived using complete motorcycles as being tested both on a dynamometer and race track. I guarantee nothing in terms of performance regarding their general duplication.

Kind Regards,

Ps
Somewhere I have specifications for an FCR 39 as used on a rerstricted engine.

Here is my former FE501 2000
Carb Keihin FCR39
MJ 170
MAJ 200
Air 0.7 open
Needle OCFMP 3.from top
Pilot 42
Fuel 1.5 open
Pump squirts 1.5 -1.6 seconds with gap bent from 1.4mm to 0.2mm.

This ist my 2004 FC450 (mostly Standard)
Carb Keihin FCR41 MX
MJ 182
MAJ 200
Air 100
Needle OBDVR 6.from top
Pilot 40
Fuel 1.8 open
Bike pops when closing the throttle!
Feels a little 'hollow' right off idle, not very crisp!

your needle straight is too 'fat' you need a thinner needle so replace that R for a P or Q. i run a Q and so do husaberg. i'm on an EKQ needle.

Taffffffffff, get out mate, this was suppose to be for comparison purposes.

Main 165
Pilot 40
Main Air 200
PFS 1.25 Turns out
PAS 1/2 Turns out
OCDVR Needle 4th clip from top (middle)
Taffy mod

Still playing around with a couple of things.

- Pilot 38
Bikes runs well but because my model FCR doesn't have a start circuit its a bitch to start on cold mornings.

-Main 170 and JD Red needle 2nd clip
Bike runs well but tends to bog down on hills in the mid rev range.

latest for me is
170MJ
180MAJ
EKQ on clip 4
40PJ
3/8turn on PAS = 60 PAJ
1.5 turns PAS
.028" of APJ squirt
#75 starter jet
1.5 turns PS

this is with the FC/FX tailpipe fitted. was a 162 (on standard FE pipe) went to 170MJ but i will work my way back down i feel toward 165MJ.

scully i've shown you mine now let's see yours!

Taffy

Taffffffffffffffffffffffff,
Mine is below every post! Saves alot of questions. VERY interesting to see yours tho!

Taffffffffffffffffffff,
At the moment Taff I have just discovered that I have NO decomp when hitting the button. So before I came to work I lifted the rocker cover to have a look at this mechanism to see how it works. Not to sure how I will go about fixing the problem.
BUT, I know YOU arent keen on my jetting spec's, BUT honestly except for the decomp business(electrical) the Berg has never run so good since Ive had it! The plug after our last ride was the most beautiful brown colour, and it starts 1st or second kick every time, even starts cold and it is winter down here and that means a start temp of around the 8/10 degree's C.
Its a funny thing these Bergs, with all the time in the shed tinkering with them etc etc. Well when I came inside this afternoon I said to the missus " I just found out whats wrong with the Berg" and she laughed and said " how come there is ALWAYS something wrong with that bike" I couldnt stop laughing. It would be nice to have an easy care bike like the Yamaha or DRZ, but then I would miss all the knowledgable blokes in here!
I was suppose to race in a Pony Express with my brother tomorrow???

i had a '99 WR400 from four months old to 3 years old. i had to have a mechanic do the tappets if nothing els ecoz he had the shims. i had the kickstart mechanism break and i lost the dogs off third gear.

i think that that's dramatic enough. in the meantime, despite my complaints about the little things, the husey has really only had a knackered camchain and tuliped valves so far.

in the meantime, although it was an early yam i had to buy
a flywheel weight
de octopuss the carb
completely re-jet it
open pipe
clark tank
IMS seat
magura juice clutch
new bars and clamp-tapered
new top clamp to suit above

this all had to be done to make it rideable. oter bits and bobs i consider as fettling but at the end of the day the yam was a quick heap of ****.

all bikes need work and those DR's might be reliable but do we take into account fettling time here? if we do the DR's would time out because there is nothing about the chassis you'd want to start with or to finish with.

if it's running well, i'd never knock it. good luck with it. don't fix it till it's broke now!

Current settings on 98 FE501 are
Pilot Air Screw/Jet - 60,
Main Air Jet - 160,
Starter Jet - 60,
Pilot Jet - 60,
Main Jet - 165,
Needle - ELN, clip 3,
Fuel Screw - 1.25,
Float - 9mm,
Accelerator Pump - 0.6mm stroke,
Slide - 0.5 - std,
Altitude - 800m

The above are Taff's recommended starting point and I'm still there except for the Start Jet which I've been drilling out ocasionally to try and improve cold starting which isn't great. Bump starts fine and once running, subsequent starting is 1-2 kicks no worries.

Steve

Good point Taff, I'll check it out on the weekend. I didn't look, just cut and paste from elsewhere.

now we don't want some innocent, niave young buck getting misguided info here now do we scully.

Taffy

Yeah I know! But Steve will never tell us the truth now!
