Anyone have any idea what the top speed of a 1995 FC501 with stock gearing is? Ive got one and it feels pretty fast in 6th gear so i was just curious how fast it really is. Thanks.

Susposedly they will do 95+mph with 15/48 gearing, on pavement.

But I have never tried! 8O 8O 8O

Fast enough to make your upper cheeks flutter and your lower cheeks clench! 8O

I know my 02 Fe650 with 15:45 will pull well over 100mph. :D 8O :D Right now I would be lucky to get it up tp 5mph carrying the chassis, as I am in the process of rebuilding it, darn counterbalancer, er. :evil:

Well I certainly got a chuckle out of the "cheeks" comment.

My 98 FC501 with 15/48 and a GPS (Garmin III+) running a new knobby, on gravel will do 85 to 87 mph. Altitude is 4600 ft. 164 main jet.

Problem I have is what to do with the next corner!! :shock:

speed calc

send me your top speed rpm, primary drive ratio, top gear ratio, final drive ratio and rear wheel diametre and i will work it out for you.
example; FE650 standard gearing at 8500rpm = 173km/h or 108m/h

gear ratio ?

benk, here is one for you to calculate.

1994 FE501

Motard conversion 17 inch rims front and rear.

15/42 sprockets.

thanks

John,
check your owners manual for confirmation of the assumed ratios (i don't have actuals and have used FE400 ratios)

Known:
Final drive ratio of 15:42

Assume:
Engine rpm of 8500
Primary drive ratio of 2.69
Top gear ratio of 0.741
Drive wheel rolling radius of 280mm

Velocity = 161.4 km/h or 100.9 mph

Edit:
4 speed box (FC)
Top gear ratio of 1.09

Velocity = 109.7 km/h or 68.6 mph

cheers
