right sotos! now it fits pretty nice in there!

BTW how are you and your husaberg?

Hi Pastullo,

could please explain me your modification, as I don´t understand it?
Isn´t it so, that the idea behind the breather modification/ disconnection in general is, that no oil-mist at all is getting into the airbox/ frame?
With only one the rear tube disconnected the oil-mist- still has the possibility get into the airbox, or? ( in case of a crash?)

Gokai, the main reason oil is thrown into the airbox is becuase oil is thrown from the cam chain through the pipe that has been bloked off, the other pipe that is still connected just acts just as a breather.

RE: Re: RE: engine breather mod

....but there is a sponge gauze in the wide part of the neck to stop the oil and let it drop back down to the engine?

there is also a huge shelf above the chain blocking the oil makng a direct run up the pipe. whoever was the first to start this idea just didn't look at it properly?

having two breathers saves power and saves the engine - especially when it's old. i say that this mod is a mistake and whoever did it first should.....

Hi Taffy,

You obviously havn't started an engine with it disconnected, I once did and it hemorrhaged oil out of that hole like wouldn't believe.

Sparks.

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: engine breather mod

i believe you steve, but the idea is that it goes up the pipe and dribbles back. its also not a straight run but has t go round a corner just to leave the engine. and as say the sponge does an excellent job. most people's frame tubesare relatively dry.

presumably when you watched that oil chuffing out the back hole, the other hole was still there right? so you see, both ARE needed to keep up with the engines need to breath! just a small point, as there was no pipe on the rear breather spigot, the oil/air will have chosen the easier route out.

Taffy

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: engine breather mod

this mod is made by husaberg. i called the IPA staff and asked if modding it in this way was good, they told me it was.
It's a mod they only do on 650.

secondo reason why i had to do this mod is the aluminium tank which doesn't fit properly because it touched the hose

Thats nice! :D

Its ok now.I repaired my Husaberg and my vertebral column its in good condition now.The fact that I can ride again makes me feel happy and very lucky!!! :D
I will post a photo to show you how my Berg looks like now

Regards sotosberg

RE: Re: RE: engine breather mod

hey sotos! your berg really looks like mine.

i got my tank painted black, and rear fender blue, but the rest is really the same.
we've got the same slick as well :D

AND I AM REALLY HAPPY THAT YOUR VERTEBRAL COLUMN IS GOOD!!!

RE: Re: RE: engine breather mod

ohh! Must looks briliant!Post some photos to see it?I really want to see how the tank looks with blach paint on it.The rear blue fender its a must!I had to put blue also.... ;)

But I am curious,do you have any stabillity problems with the fork after 150 km with those slick?Recently I descover that might this problem have to do with some settings in the rear suspension.Becaouse of few guys here have husaberg,I am asking you that you have the same bike with the same tyres.

RE: Re: RE: engine breather mod

pastullo

i saw a used omeromoto serbtiou /tankfor sale today and it went for E220 with two side panels. is this the usual 'used' price still?

Taffy

RE: Re: RE: engine breather mod

Wait!!!Where this apears,in side of the slick?I must be blind!!!!I am going now to check it!!!

Buddy, your Husaberg looks really nice!!!!!
I can say that the difference of colors suits perfectly.I love the rear blue fender! The tank colored black seems like not exist in the
bike, the color hides even more the volume....Briliant :D

Older models did not have the sponge gauze to trap the oil mist and if you used mineral oil or cheap synthetic you soon got oil running down inside the frame air box where the mist settled. Now you can use oils that do not mist particularly much and, as Taffy says, whatever mist there is most of it is caught in the sponge, if you have it, making it dribble back down where it came from. Another thing could also be that the pulsations from the air box helps distibuting the oil in the rocker box, I dont know if it happens but would not exclude the possibility that it happens and helps. The pulsations from the crankcase are not always that violent in these motors because of the reed valve. Regards.

RE: Re: RE: engine breather mod

I bought mine last june used from England for 280 E.The tank costs 200 E and the shipping 80 E.Probable the "used price" of the omero still starts from 200 E I think. At least most of the omero on ebay ends minimum in this price.

Regards sotosberg

taffy i paid mine 250€ brand new.
usual price is 400 at omero husaberg official, 300\350 in store or private

There might be also some technical reason for using it, but i prefer the simple answer:why is (or better was) even the factory team disconnect it from the frame?
Has anybody seen any engine (bike or car) over the last years, that is allowed to pass it´s "internal engine gases" direct into the atmosphere?
I´m a very strong believer that the "connection" of the engine breather into the frame/airbox is a result of emission regulations.
And nothing else.
I like it simple: if it´s not there, it can´t be broken!
or in case of a crash, it can´t flood my carb with oil

Both Husaberg teams IPA and BRT use this patent in their engines.I made the same in my berg and works very nice, specially when the bike falls down...No more oil into carb! The factory engines obviously repaird rarely.I dont know if the standard breather extends the life of a signle and old engine but if the factory engines that run so high RPM use this patend, it must realy work!

Here is a pic from a BRT Husaberg head:
