The good ol' 650 Berg was making more noise than usual on the way back to the truck a few weeks ago. I know they usually sound like they are going to fly apart however; it sounded a little worse... I removed the left side cover and would ya believe, the crank nut was finger-tight. I have about 125 hours/4100 miles on the bike, so have a look inside if any of you are starting to creep up on 100 hours.
 
this is a common fault. do a search on this.

i believe that the nut tightens down to the end of the thread and doesn't get to the gear. you need to add a washer i think.

this is off the top of my head!

There was a recall in 05 for this issue. Your dealer should be able to check which models were affected by the VIN #. If your dealer has never heard of this issue check with BOSS as he has the info.
