Hi fellow berger's

Was out riding to day on my way home from school when the bike just died on me.. was just like it had run out of gas, but there was plenty of fuel..
so i stopped and and had a look at the engine to see if i could spot something, but everything was normal, so i try to start the bike and it starts on the 2. kick, no problem. And then i start riding home, when i was almost home i gave full throttle in 3. and 4. gear, and then the same thing happen again, it just died like there was no fuel left..
Could it be that the carb is full of shait?

cheers

Go to the other thread, but be sure to check the "stupid" stuff first. In this case, my first question is whether you somehow have a clogged or pinched tank vent? The stupid stuff includes those things that are simple and straightforward but that have in the past not occurred to me.

yeah, i will check the tank, fuel lines and carb tomorrow..
but first i gotta get the screw that holds the seat loose, it's stuck, and i cant get it loose:/ tried everything. But i'll have a buddy help me with that, so i can get to work on the real problem

But the strange thing is that when i restarted it, it did go fine until i gave full throttle, and then let go of the throttle. It whent like a rocket like it always does when i give full juice, but when i let go, it just died on me

Is this a new bike or a older one? I would follow the advice from the other posts about this if that doesn`t cure it a good carby cleaning is in order. If it was me I would clean it anyway just to make certain. Look over the carb parts for wear and replace as needed. Check and make sure the vent hoses are clear and not blocked in any way. Hope this helps.

hehe,i can't do anything but laugh... i found out what was wrong today, there was almost no gas on the tank, så the engine ran fine on low rpm, but not on high.. Didn't rrelysee how much gas there was left when i sat on the bike, hehe.. well well, at least i got to clean the airfilter and under the seat :p

But another thing, my bike is a 02 fs650e with 160hours on it, and it has been upgraded to a 03mod. I never had any problems, or the stator has bbeenchanged as usual, but is there something i should chang? would it be smart to change the rockerarms?

cheers

Too funny.

The other day while the engine was running I decided to add a bit more oil as it was low. You guessed it, oil all over the place.

Sh!t happens.

If the rocker arm 'cam follower needle bearings' have never been replaced you might check them, IMHO 160 hours is a lot on them and they may be close to failure.

hehe, yeah  me too :D

JoeUSA:
okey, should i just replace the needle bearings, or the compleat thing`?

If the rocker arms were upgraded to the 03 model, and you still have ridden the bike for 160 hours after the upgrade you should replace the cam follower bearing on each cam. The bearing is sold as a complete kit that includes the needles, a shaft and the outer ring. Do you do this work your self?

In one of your earlier posts you said it was a 02 FS 650E that had been upgraded to a 03 mod.

Was this upgrade done when the bike was new, or was it done after it had been ridden some? Do you know what the upgrades were?

Did they install 03 rocker arms?

Did they install an 03 connecting rod kit?

Did they install 03 roller main bearings for the crank shaft?

The above upgrades would extend the life of the engine between overhauls.

I do not ride a SM bike, I trail ride, so I cannot speak for the life of a SM.

Some of the other SM riders should jump in here and help you with recommendations as to what you should do with 160 hours on your SM.

Regards,

Joe

I talked to the guy i bought the bike from, i don't know when it was done, but it seems that i was only the rockerarm-bearings that was "upgraded"
So i think the best thing is to send it in and have them replace all the bearings, rockerarms and so on... if it was just the rockerarms that needed change, i could do it myself, but if i have to do the hole engine, i think it's best i let the pro's do it
