Dakar cancelled

I had to giggle as well, but the reality of situation makes me want to fly to Africa to ride the event just to say F U to the 'gad guys'.

A couple times at the ISDE's I've heard of terrorist threats. I either discounted it as it couldn't happen to me or that it was a rumour. Either way, I would ahve been devastated to be in my hotel all wrapped up in being prepped and the event cancelled. They must be some POed. I feel for the riders, their crews and their sponsors.

Hay Fry, if we leave tomorrow, I think there is still a chance to win! A day or three late, with no competition. I've got a couple helmet cams and a few strings to pull. Lets roll!!
Ya, my coors and I are dreaming.

Dale, I don't know where you get your talking points, but you need to look a bit more into what's really happening out there and claiming that France is not acting against Islamic terror shows you should rely less on talking points and do a little more in-depth reading.

Okay,

Hmmmmm a battle in the year 732 AD, yeah, that's right on the surface, not too deep.

I'll begin my search this way, go to google search, type in French Military Victories, and then click on "I'm feeling lucky" and then follow the link that shows up.

Hmmmmmmmm, I believe the French voted against action in Afghanistan and Iraq at the UN, and have no troops in either theatre.

are they members?

Taffy

Huh yes France is a member of the UN as well as a member of NATO (how many times did I have to tell that to Americans who strongly believed the opposite until they checked Wikipedia and came back with a red face), and is the larger provider of troops and material after the US and largely before the UK, Taffy.

Taffy: do you have Rush Limbaugh in Britain too? Bill O'Reilly? Sounds like you do.
The question about the UN was obviously in jest. Why didn't you remind us that not only is France in the UN, but is also one of the 5 permanent members of the Security Council? (don't laugh...it's true.)

Blame it on the Sand People?

Europe Heighten Threat Levels

The English are feeling the pinch in relation to recent terrorist
threats and have raised their security level from "Miffed" to
"Peeved". Soon, though, security levels may be raised yet again to
"Irritated" or even "A Bit Cross". Londoners have not been "A Bit
Cross" since the blitz began in 1940 and tea supplies all but ran
out. Terrorists have been re-categorized from "Tiresome" to "A Bloody
Nuisance". The last time the British issued "A Bloody Nuisance"
warning level was during the great fire of 1666.

Also, the French government announced yesterday that it has raised
its terror alert level from "Run" to "Hide". The only two higher
levels in France are "Collaborate" and "Surrender." The rise was
precipitated by a recent fire that destroyed France's white flag
factory, effectively paralyzing the country's military capability.

It's not only the English and French who are on a heightened level of
alert. Italy has increased the alert level from "Shout loudly and
excitedly" to "Elaborate Military Posturing." Two more levels remain:
"Ineffective Combat Operations" and "Change Sides."

The Germans also increased their alert state from "Disdainful
Arrogance" to "Dress in Uniform and Sing Marching Songs." They also
have two higher levels: "Invade a Neighbor" and "Lose".

Belgians, on the other hand, are all on holiday as usual, and the
only threat they are worried about is NATO pulling out of Brussels.

The Spanish are all excited to see their new submarines ready to
deploy. These beautifully designed subs have glass bottoms so the new
Spanish navy can get a really good look at the old Spanish navy.is is not really what this thread is about but thought someone might have a smile.....

Scouser, that's funny! Since the burning of the white flag factory, the French have been very active on ebay. Many rifles are for sale; part of the description reads, "never fired, only dropped once." So if you need some first class weapons designed and built by the guys who brought you the Renault and Poodle, just log in...
