Cycra Solution Mount system for the 2001 (Magura bars)

I have Cycra handguards on my Berg, but the way I like to have by clutch lever and the cup, the cable touches the guard mount and it's not super duper.

Believe it or not but I do fall (seriously I have been falling very little with the Berg compared to the DRZ, just that one fall happened while pinning it, result => my avatar) and I usually have had to reposition the guard (normal), except it pushed the clutch lever by the cable (not good, I don't see myself with a stuck clutch).

Now the trick is that I have a 2001, with the old Magura bars on them, which means 9/8 inche (28+ mm) thick by the top clamp.

The Cycra system seems to be 7/8 only, am I right?

If yes, what other solution do I have? I'd rather buy just the middle bar if possible.

These guys looked good, until I read "not for KTM or Husaberg"... But will it work with the Maguras (since Bergs only adopter the same bars as KTM in 03 if I am right)?

Thanks in advance!

I used cycra with the pro-bend and yes you could buy a universal mount kits for them that will allow for the clutch/brake cables.

The middle part can be bought individually for $75. They have a 7/8 and an 11/8 version. Issue is that the 2000-2002 came with Magura EX bars, which are 9/8 at the fattest (each side of the clamp).

I would either have to machine the 7/8 set or use the 11/8 with something in between, unless I am missing something?

Thanks!

Hey Le Frog, I may just be silly when it comes to math but isn't 9/8" the same as 1-1/8". Again I may just be confused.

Yes and maybe we should talk about millimeters.

7/8 = 23mm => 1st option
9/8 = 28mm => my Magura EX bar
11/8 = 35mm => 2nd option

jeff, don't be messin with the frog or he's liable to smack you upside the head with a shovel while you're helping him with his zipper. 8O (you had to be there)

my experience with the cycra u-mount clamps for magura bars is very good.my experience with the solution mount was disappointing.dan

Dan, what was the issue? I am thinking about getting the 7/8 and having the mount machined to 9/8.

That was probably the set you sold me Dan :D . Some of the original parts were totally misdrilled. I called Cycra and they sent me out some replacement parts right away. Everything was fine after that.
It was kind of a bummer to pay that much for something that obviously had no quality control.

You guy are no fun, really.

Guess what: I will buy one and see for myself.

I'll take it to the machinist only if it looks like it could fit, otherwise, back to Cycra.

I will let everybody know how it worked out (expect photos).

I just ordered what really was the 1 1/8 mount (it reads like 11/8, great Web design right there -like I know anything), or 9/8.

America, dump the imperial system, already.

Well, each time I hear that from someone in the States, I always ask why and there is never a good answer except "I don't understand it".

I don't care to understand it ! What happened to being individualistic ? Can't handle measuring in meters and mm I like to cut my 2 X 4 's at 78 13/16 " besides I like ' & "s I've never mistaken 1 1/8" as 11/8ths Oh by the way if it wasn't for miles, feet and inches all europeans would be speaking german.

Ok Stoveguy you have a point, you totally proved me wrong. :D

Ned, when did the US military start using the metric system, by the way?

i don't think the metric system is any easier than the imperial system at all.Neither one is very difficult,the only thing that can be difficult is having to convert the one you are used to ,to the other.Here in Canada we converted to the metric system 30 years ago and i can tell you for sure that those of us old enough to be conversent with the imperial system have never really been able to adapt.The only thing we have become good at is converting from imperial to metric automatically without thinking about it.
Case in point, last monday I made a flying trip up to BMG in Woodstock and on the way back found myself mentally working out the gas mileage for my old truck.Even though we buy our fuel in litres and the speedo is in kilometers,it does not mean any thing to me untill I work it out in miles per gallon.And its been 30 freakin years!!!
Do not swith ever, uncle Sam,make them pry the imperial system from your"cold dead hands"(hey that sounds familiar) :D
The only time that we ever had any fun with the metric system was when they first made the switch,it was fun trying to maintain the speed limits.The 30 signs were now 50 signs and the 60 signs were now 100 signs.I had a Kaw z-1 at the time and it was great sport riding around at 100 mph for a while,the cops soon sucked the fun out of that and its been downhill ever since.
