Cycra Solution Mount system for the 2001 (Magura bars)

All I am saying is that Cycra needs to add a space because 11/8 and 1 1/8 aren't the same thing.

When I work around the house I always use the metric system, because I am used to it.

When I try to force myself to use a "standard" ruler, I don't know what the heck I am reading, between the eighth, the sixteenth, urgh.

Thats what I am saying too Lefrog.its very much like your first language, you can learn others but you will always think in your first.Just the way it is.

Ned, when did the US military start using the metric system, by the way?
couldn't say for sure, nic, when i was a member of that elite club from 1962-66, it wasn't an issue. i learned it when i went to work in the medical technical field. you guys are right about always falling back on your native language, tho, because even tho i measure in metric (and always calculate in metric), i mentally reference it all to imperial/ us customary, just like froggy will mentally reference everything he says here to a french equivalent (which is why he usually makes no sense :dontknow: )
but to me, the ease of doing calculations and being able to compare things by just multiplying or dividing by a power of 10 makes it the way to go. and ron, with my feeble eyes, i'm never quite sure i saw 11/16 or 11/32 on the tape :)

That's what reading glasses are for Ned ! By the way is it me or did this thread shoot off in a bizzare direction ? Oh well good fun
Ron

Sorry to get back to the hand guards: I have the set up on my 02 fx I had to put bar clamps and solution mount bar upside down to get them to low enough cover my hands and levers. They push your headlight forward and the bolts holding solution bar to bar mount grabs your front brake line as you put the center stand. I hit a small sapling and the bar end bolts broke. I was on a tight trail (Elkins flat) in second gear... The Magura inserts are very weak. I suggest AteK bar inserts. I'm still very glad I have them. They saved me last weekend.

Metric is easy to use.

No, no, no ........... not hand guards I want to talk more about Nic's french. He makes me laugh no matter the language.

Ahhhh, seriously, if you want good handguards that work first time every time, take a look at Barkbusters, they are Aussie made, world class items. They make 3 styles now, weathershields, wich is the neat equivalent of those monsterous things Cycra make, ther is the Ego style whish is pretty slim, but big enough to cover all of your controlls and hands, and the flash new ones which are called the VPS guard which has adjustable foils so you can increase the coverage of the guard.

They all have a solid aircraft grade aluminium (yeah i said that wrong too probably), bar about 5/8" x 1/4" (or 16mm x 6mm) and are as tough as nails.

better yet you dont have to do anything to make them fit perfectly, they make about 6 different bar clamps that are specifically suited to just about every bar on the market.

Azza.
