Cush Drives - Anyone use them for street?

My OEM wheel came with cush hub. Ditched the OEM saxess/behr cheese wheels and got proper excels with excel pro-series hubs without cush drive.

One word, awesome. Makes a little bit more rattle noise, but the direct feeling what I get from rear tire now is just worth it. Sprockets and chain seems to last as good as stock, and I don't care even if they needs to be replaced in few thousand km's. Bike is just so much fun to ride. :D

no worries 1badhusa - I knew you were just joking mate and I'm sure there's no offence taken. I just couldn't resist being a smart@rse.

smart@rse? stupid australian spelling. listened to a guy from the UK last night who applied for immigration to oz. they asked him if he had any criminal convictions and he replied he didn't realise (oops, realiZe) it was still a requirement.

i suspect the kush sprocket guys are struggling with quality control. the only way to get a decent price is get them manufactured in china, but getting them to be consistently precise is difficult. a mate of mine had the typical experience of paying more for better quality control, but after a while they start substituting inferior metals and getting sloppy on the specs, even though it loses (lozes?) them the ongoing work. hope they get it sorted, its a great idea...

Comming back to this old thread , as I'm considering to go street wheels ??? and found these Husqvarna hubs.

It's got 6 rubber dampeners in it to cushion the impacts generated from on/off throttle use. I've about 6,000 miles on an o-ring chain, and sprockets. There's no visible wear or hooks or anything. The chain pulls away only 1mm at the back of the sprocket.

Here's what a Kush hub looks like. It's not for sale, sorry.

I need some help , I decided to transfrom my FE 650 2003 to motard and want to use cushion hub rear to avoid tention of gear box etc...
was able to to find these hubs off a Husky SM 610 ??? will these do on my berg ??? I will need to locate a sprocket drive as these are as per photo.

Thanks

KTM 640 adv Cush hub and wheel is a perfect fit in the bergs. I had one, but sold it as I was only riding dirt.

I bought these already today off the KTM 640 ,
they measure indentical with the Husaberg oem cush drive as it also includes the sprocket drive only cushions missing.
Will check if same spacers from my enduro wheels will work or else will take measures and machine some. Really happy for going to super moto wheels with cushion:)

Thanks !!!!

They look like they could be early LC4 hubs - at least the front one does - possibly around 2001/2002. If so, the front will be 20mm spindle size with mechanical speedo drive. If that's the case, you can get an axle reducer kit from KTM to fit your 26mm spindle forks for about £25 (or make your own). You'd also need a 20mm spindle, and a spacer that replaces the speedo drive (not sure if KTM still make them, but there is a place in Australia that definitely still makes them (again, you could make your own).
Rear should fit straight in!

I will receive hubs today still with the couriers on the way to me ,
20-26mm front axle conversion-KTM
Googled and found this kit KTM part number SXS03540400 spacer kit.
It converts 20mm axle to 26mm. Should work great.
Maybe this KTM part number info helpfull to others attempting same too.

Regarding that I'll need a 20mm spindle, and a spacer that replaces the speedo drive
I'll attempt to make my own or if any one knows a part number or a link ??

Might be wrong about that front hub, but certainly looks like the older style ones. There's an outside chance it may even be 17mm spindle - you'll soon know though when they arrive!
Here's a link to a spacer to replace the speedo drive (Germany, not Australia!) -

Ebay item #191502768456 in case the link doesn't work.

You are completely right !!!! itis 17mm spindle , so I think it is a no go.

The rear hub though is exact what I needed.

So instead of spending more money for 17mm spindles and needing to make my own spacer kits etc .... I was able to locate a brand new genuine KTM front wheel 17inch 3,5 at a deal price.

Now ordered a rear excel rim 5 inch and alpina spokes and I'm ready to rock.
Looking for break set up now.

PS These super moto set ups are insane expensive :cold::cold:
