counterbalancer - removal - oil jet?

bushy, probably a little bit of a shame you couldn't get a bit thicker steel in there for a counter weight, just to make it more directly opposite the crank pin as posible.i know in the old 644cc crank you can't get any more than a 5mm flat plate in there.
probably the mallory idea like lineaweavers has is theroedicly the best, if you can get it.
don't know weather you would be able to get it balanced properly that way without drilling holes near the crank pin to lighten that side, like he does.
when i was doing mine, i was advised by 2 different workshops that do crankbalancing not to drill holes around the crank pin to lighten that side of the crank, you will be asking for trouble, but rather add extra weight the other side.
maybe a bit of both ways would be ideal.
couldn't be too much extra drag with the counterweight going through the oil,as wal's 08 fs630 with the akra pipe still couldn't do me in a straight line drag.oooooo come on wal bite!
this old girl is" STILL" the bench mark to beat..
cheers ..weed..

i was saying to bushie that i read somewhere that singles should have a 100% balance factor popup?

you have moved from 70% that DL recommended; to 91%. i can't say where i read it but it's buzzing round in my head! (plenty of space)

while i'm here. coded chat...never did get those 32s from the USA but just check out the inlets on a 2000 FC501...... (34)

ahh yes thicker more central weights mighta been better, could have been lighter ?

not sure if its all that important in 200 hrs or so (if the box don't break) Im getting a 750 kit ha gotta be a sort of a 644 benchmark mover, be an interesting drag race :)

definetly not the first person to say the old 644s can run rings around the 628s.. .

my stock setup was about 0.58 if you just remove the CB, I re-balanced to 0.75 since lineweaver was around there apparently

you could go to 6mm wide if you needed to, weeds 5mm and mine 3mm.

mallory would have been nice you could also drill a hole fit a thin plug with a smaller hole and pour molten lead in but would have to be a lot.

only got 6 hrs on it so just quickly

there is more vibration at idle and below 2000rpm and the bike is easier to stall

vibes are felt in the bars and in the footpegs but its no big deal so far, by the time the bikes warmed up I forget all about it. feels a lot nicer than a stock cr500.

above 2000rpm it feels as before only the engine is a lot stronger.

it used to make a sudden horrible vibration around 7500 with the CB in place now its a smoother increase of vibes as the revs increase.

if I were to change anything id go to 0.85 or so as an experiment simply because weeds is 0.91.

will have to do a 2-3 hour "race" and see if I get the tingly hands thing.

the other thing i need to add is the 628 should benefit from a rebalanced crank even if you retain the CB. Gazza gets his done. the nasty vibes at 7500 in the stock engine are no good.

Overall that seems like a positive result.

I'm interested by your experience of easier stalling. I wonder whether that is caused by a net reduction in rotational inertia despite the rebalance and whether that is also down to the newer shaped crank webs compared to the older 644 ones.

Cheers,
Simon
