Clutch Sounds wierd...

I know i must sound like an ***** when you guys read this, but my clutch sounds wierd...

When i engage the clutch... it is just normal and it engages normally...

The clutch disengages normally also, but occasionally when i disengage it there is a whirring sound like the starter would be kicking in.

I only have 19,7 hours on the bike.

I believe the sound you hear is quite normal as it's happened to mine and I had the same concern.

Maybe someone else can explain what the noise is.

i placed a call upon the retailer of the bike, they say that the clutch springs need adjusting, wich is normal around 20hrs or so. Failure to adjust these may result in a bad/worn tranny.

I can beleive this to be the answer to my question since i feel that the clutch doesn't fully depress...

A sort of screeching noise during engagement is normal due to the configuration of the inside metal plate if I remember correctly what the local Bergmeisters told me anyway.Mine does it,Hoyt's does it and Kelsows does it but I believe in his case it the bike whining in protest at the load it is being asked to carry   .I admit to being unfamiliar with the inner workings of a Berg engine as yet but short of replacement or preload washers, how does one adjust a clutch spring?

i am not familiar myself, but that's what the Berg dealer here told me :)

i will give you better specs when i know more ;)

for what I been told that is a Husa sound, they say is common on any Husa¡¡¡¡¡¡

My 07 650 does it from time to time and I just ignore it based on the advise here. 50 hrs and no worse when it does it. My 98 501 has never done it.

My fe400 clutch makes a whining/whirring sound that reduces when the clutch is pulled in and it is caused by play in the clutch basket. The basket is alloy and it is acting against the steel circlip resulting in a small amount of wear creating side play, this allows the basket to whine/whirring when no load is applied. I am not going to worry to much about it but next time i have the cover off plan to shim the clutch basket.
ps.Its not just a berg thing a friends KTM has exactly the same noises and he is replacing the thrust washers and needle rollers to remove the side play

My 06 Fe650 has made that noise from new. It doesn't make the noise all the time and there doesn't seem to be any particular thing that makes it happen. I'm told it's normal.
Cheers
Garry.

i was going to ask if a whirring noise from the clutch side of my fs650e and a slight screach sometimes were normal, but you guys seem to have answered the questions for me thanks!!!!!the whirring has always been there the screach only sometimes when you pull away quick!

There is no "clutch spring adjustment". The dealer needs to be educated! The springs can be replaced if needed. The only adjustment possible is to tighten one of the spring retaining screws if it is loose. (this condition would be loud and noticeable since the screw would scrape the inside of the clutch cover)

All Husey's I have ridden make this noise with aggressive clutch slippage. It seems to be inherent to the design. Look at an exploded view, or better yet, disassemble and see how it is made. The noise origination will be self evident(at least to me). I installed a rekluse pro recently, and the noise changed, as did the inner hub/steel plate interface with the rekluse re-engineering.

PS. Rekluse works excellent, stiff/high rpm spring, hard engagement(tc balls)

The reason for the harsh noise is the gears are all straight cut gears, when you have syncro mesh gears this noise does not appear.

I find my fs650 only making a god awfull sound from the clutch side when i am at high revs and i let them off quick before going into corners?
is this the same noise this thred is talking about.
cheers

mhmh i am not sure about this..i think that what you are talking about works for example when a car goes backward and does weird noise cuz gears aren't elicoidal (coil ??).

but I think that the clutch sounds weird because of the plates rubbing.

PS on my airsoft m4a1 i have elicoidal gears to decrease noise

weird sound on clutch

My fe 450 07 with 60 km's produces a weird sound as if the chain is dragging on the frame pipe but it is on the left clutch side.
The importer / dealer in Holland says its normal. An other Husaberg didn't had this awfull noise. This must be possible to solve ?!
If the straight cut gears are the reason why there is a difference between the various engines ?
Who has a solution or tried sometihing to do so ?

It's normal, the KTM's do it too. It's just when you are kind of slipping the clutch yes?

If so it's a high frequency vibration caused by the metal clutch plates when the clutch is partially dis engaged. But this should only occur when the clutch lever is pulled in a little, not when it is fully released.

There is a normal "whirring" sound that comes from the left side due to the straight cut gears.
