Hi everyone,

My ride is a 06 FE450e. I was wondering if there is any special procedure to remove the carburetor. I t seems really difficult to take it out.

Thanks for your help.

If you are just trying to rejet the carb, removal is not necessary. Remove the front boot by loosening all the clamps, pull the carb rearward into the elbow as far as it will go and the boot will come out. You can then twist the carb to access the needle or remove the cap at the bottom to access the main or pilot jet. Float height can be adj as well by removing the bowl. The vent lines may restrict movement, but you can always remove them then reroute them when you're done.

It is definitely a tight fit! The intake boot must be removed, and it is easiest to do by loosening all clamps, front and rear, then moving carb to the rear into the air cleaner boot, then move the front boot downward and out of the way. With the front boot out of there, the carb can be removed. I like to remove the two throttle cables . Also, check the front boot closely for rips, there have been several failures where the manufacturer cut too deeply making the ribbed design inside the boot.

Might I also add.... In addition to the excellent advise above, remove the electric starter first, two bolts, probably less than a minute to remove it, and you will have way more room. Once it's out just lay it against the back side of the foot peg.

Has anybody had any issues in the past with throttle cables that were too tight and were not sliding properly after the FCR was refitted in the bike?

yes froggy i have.

just try different routes for thew cables as well as checking that you didn't flip the carb 360 degrees whilst it hung on the cables.
