carb changing in fe 600

i am thinging of changing the carb of my 95 fe 600 sm. i am still a student in university and my funds are limited so the 41mm keihin FCR is a bit expensive to me. i am thinging for a 41mm dellorto with acceleration pump which costs in my country about 235 euros (1 euro more or less equals to 1 dollar).
has any one tried it or has any jetting info for this dellorto to work properly on my 600?
any other suggestion?

go onto ebay and be patient. i would expect one, used for E100 at some stage. others here can suggest the best 'bang per buck'.

i thing you are propably right, i might wait untill i came up with some more money to buy an FCR as i was told it makes big difference in how berg works and in fuel consumption.

carb question

My 98 fe 600 has a 38mm eddelbrock quicksilver carb,for most of last year I have been trying to tune it,changing needles,accelerator pump,even a rebuild.I am dissapointed with performance,The tech at eddlebrock has told me thats all there is,would changing to a 40mm carb make a drastic change or is there any thing else I can do ?

On my '96 FE600e, I replaced the stock oval bore 38mm Dellorto flatside with a 40mm Mikuni flatside carb. The Mikuni was much easier to jet and worked much better, with no hitches and/or hesitations as with the stock Dellorto.

a dell orto 40mm would do very nicely! and there are plenty around on ebay. best bang per buck for sure. go on to TT and find a bloke called dwight rudder. dwight was developing a edelbrock whilst he was here and he has been national enduro champion in his time. if you don't look him up you're not worth helping here-no offence like-but it's as simple as that.

we have fantastic knowledge here for the FCR carb but they aren't cheap! a 39mm flatslide FCR flows the same air as a 40mm dell orto-fact! so no need to go to a 41mm which really will cost an arm and a leg!

i finally changed my old vhsb 38 crap with a phm 40. my new one has the standard fe600 factory jetting and works a lot better from 0000rpm to eternity...

it made starting a bit easier but the only thing i really miss though is the lighter flat slide of the vhsb.
