hi , just wondering what peoples best advice is on gearing for my 04 fe 450? whats best for supermoto and whats best for enduro? currently running a 15 front 45 rear on both sets of wheels, feels fine on the road but offroad it feels like it labours alot in 1st when im 'down in the trenches' can hear the plates slipping only occasionally under really heavy load in 1st

cheers

cheers dude! iv got a new 13 sprocket and a 48 rear , il try just the 13 on the front with 45 on the back and see how she rides!

i always preferred 13/48 for a 450, for the nasty tech stuff. it keeps you out of 1st gear, but it depends on where you ride.

defo 13 x 52 off - road. I had a highly tuned 400 and wouldn't dream of anything less than 13 x 51.

on road: not 100% sure but 15 x 45 is the same as 16 x 48. it is exactly the same.

so this is what you do.
you fit 16/48 for the road
you fit 13/51 for the dirt

and you don't adjust your chain.

anyone work that one out?

oooooo i like it!!!

also while everyones commenting, iv snapped my chain tensioner bolt, the one that houses the spring as it winds in, dont ask me how i snapped it, i just undid it and only half came out! i had to fettle to get the stuck half out! as a quick fix can i remove the spring and use a long bolt with a nut to lock the bolt in place??

probably!, that is in essence what the manual cam chain tensioner I put in my DRZ is, to replace an automatic one that has a fail rep
