i need to put the headrace and swingarm pivot bearing numbers in the 'owners doc' also we still don't have the cam follower bearing numbers. anyone kept the packaging?

anyone with a 470 piston or a 400 piston? can you check the deck height please? this means from the centre of the gudgeon pin to the top edge of the piston. from under a half out GP to the edge is quick 'n easy as well. anyone got that?

another thing i'd like to do some day is get the camshaft codes from the husey days I.E. '53' cam, '01' cam, etc etc and get them cross referenced to todays ktm part numbers. however as yet we don't have an '04 parts manual or an '05?

we've all been blind to these for 24 months now and nobody is the wiser. any dealers out there can help? husabutt? joe-usa?

another thing i'll ask json/schwim to consider is a website/e-mail addy list for each country? if we start collecting the following items for each dealer we could make a list;

name
country
county/state
telephone
fax
web site
e-mail
parts/bikes?

could any of the UK boys who have details of 'your' dealer get them to me with a PM or put them here?

that is all

Taffy

If no one else knows I'll be able to check the deck height later this week... I know where there's an old 400 piston laying around.

Hi Taffy,

The 04 parts manual is available on the http://www.husaberg.se/
web site, under "Downloads, Previous"

It shows the same part number for the 04 as the 03 for the 450/501/550, 800.36.010.000. The 650 got a new part number for 04, 820.36.010.000.

I have an 05 manual also, it lists the same part numbers as the 04 manual for the cams..

Hope this helps,

Joe

that doesn't seem right somehow? i went to our downloads section and the part numbers for the '03s still have the cam codes on the end as of old. '55' and '53' etc etc. so the '04 and '05 books are different to '03s surely!

json
can you no longer keep the manuals from '04 and '05 here at UHE?

Joe
the bearing numbers. i meant the numbers off the side of the bearings or the box lids etc etc not the OEM part numbers! thanks anyway fella!

regards

Taffy,

Here is the page from the 04 manual, it claims the part number was assigned in 03, whether it ever was used in 03 Bikes would be anyones guess.

Hi Joe

the part numbers in '03 are as follows

200.342.01 = '01' cam for the 400
200.342.55 = '55' cam for the 501
200.342.53 = '53' cam for the 550
200.342.08 = '08' cam for the 650

the '08 was i believe introduced in '03 on the 650 as you state so that may just be a change of part number to 820.36.010.000.

however according to your parts list the # 800.36.010.000 which is the cam of the '04; 450/501/550, this was a new cam in '04 and a different number to the 650 cam. so they aren't getting the '08' cam but they imply that it isn't the '53, '55 or '01 either!

that leaves the Q; what is the profile of the new 800.36.010.000 cam fitted to the 450/501/550? and used for enduro, SM and MX!!!

we'll have to wait for that one i guess!

thanks for your efforts and next time i update the doc i will put a link for the auxillary tank to your gallery.

Taffy

further to the above, the cam fitted to the 450/501/550 may have something written in tiny, tiny numbers on the left end of the cam that denotes the factory number for the cam.

i'm sure Joe or husabutt, berger et al will soon tell us!

Taffy,

My cam has been modified by Dale into a LRX2. Maybe Dale took the time to measure it before the modification.

At any rate, its likely to be some time before I have to remove the cam!

Joe

Taffy,

Just measured a 400 piston so the 400 and I guess 470 Deck Height is 22.33mm (0.879")

Made up from: Top of gudgeon pin bore to top face of piston = 13.33mm (0.525")

Gudgeon pin diameter = 18.00mm (0.709")

Deck height = 13.33mm + (18.00mm/2 to pin centre)

= 22.33mm (0.879")

oldberger :roll:

thanks for that, that means i've got both sorted and the 97mm ktm piston looks a distinct possibility!

because i've never had the engine down i'm not sure whether i can buy a wet sleeve or how it's done! if it's far cheaper to convert to 470 i will. if not i rather fancy a special like this LS 450.

cheers

taffy

Taffy, I think Dale has mentioned previously that he has a 440 "kit" he does to the 400 engines, and claims results on par or better than the newer 450's? Or are you looking to stay with 'stock" bits? I've also considered what I might do once I decide to tear down my 400. I'm not there yet! BD

BD

the new husey 450 is ridiculously oversquare IMHO!!!

all for the sake of keeping 100mm bore they reduced the 400/470's stroke!

i believe that you'll find the KTM 450 +2mm piston from woessner may fit. i emphasise MAY!!! it's me that's starting this rumour but i've gone into it.

we need to know the cheapest way around a liner/sleeve now. i shall not do much until i have worn out what i have.

hasn't anybody got those headrace bearing codes fer chrissakes!!!!!

BW's and FT's :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:
