as pleased as I am to see you here telling us of all this news that is for our benefit, it is worth pointing out that you're quite welcome to come on here and sound off again as a moron anytime but we'd far prefer you didn't turn our site into a mobile billboard that has a short term gain for your mega corporate conglomerate but has a detrimental effect on our our sleep arrangements.

we sleep when we go to bed and not at the computer.

so come on by and talk to us and not at us and leave the sales speak in the locker FFS?

feel free to CONTRIBUTE TO THE SITE OR....

then again, if the only time you're ever going to be here is to tell us of your close out sale well, if this is/was your sole contribution then I'll be the first one at the sale! :D :D :D

regards

Whoa! you guys are very hostile ...did I post on the wrong forum? I was sure that this was Vendors and Services area and I am a vendor who is offering a service.

If I am correct and this is the Vendors and services area then, your angry comments could only be caused by one of four things:

1) I misunderstood the instructions posted on the forum Vendors and Services:"Dealers and vendors are welcome to hock their wares in this forum. This is not to be used as a classifieds system for private sellers. Please use our classifieds system for that. "... If I was incorrect in posting this information on this forum then I consider myself corrected and sincerly apologise.

2) You are dealers trying to protect your turf. ... If this is the situation then who cares what you have to say.

3) You really hate the Baja and don't want anyone to have an oppurtunity to ride it. ...Can't help you there.

4) You are those really weird guys that hide behind the invisible shields of cyber space commenting negatively on topics as if you understand them, knowing full well you have never participated in what ever the subject is, thinking that no one can tell.

In any case what ever the reason for the hostility, we did want to let people know there is an opportunity to participate in the Baja, for a lot less then 20 to 30,000. it would cost an individual.
ps
Contrary to your opinion we are not a corporate conglomerate, I wish that you were correct, cause then I could afford to jet into the race and hire riders to fill spots on the team.

Taffy, unless you have done some investagation and know this is a bogus offer, then there seems no good reason that they (Duncan Motorsports)should not be taken at face falue.Just because someone does not have a few hundred posts on here does not make them any less viable.
I would like to think that anyone on here that has ever dreamed of entering Baja 1000 and has done the math, $ wise, should contact these people directly and make up your own mind.
Really Taffy I dont know these guys, but neither do you, and I think you may owe them an apology.

For the record, I moved this topic to the V&S forum. Previously, it was in Ride Reports.

Cool, So for $5800 USD you can ride the Baja.

I assume that this does not include the entry fee? How much is that?
What would you estimate the accommodation and other addon costs to be?
How long would it take to pre ride the course? ie would you need a week to prepare before hand or would this be a matter of turning up on the day and racing? Noting I'am not a point end of field rider.
Is this the first year you have provided this service? After just completing the Australasian Safari, SWMBO wont let me ride anything till I save up for it. Do you plan to offer this in the future?
I'am an Aussie and my bucket list is to compete in as many life time races as possible, with the Baja being one of these.

The $5800 does include the entry fee.
Accomodations can be really in expensive if you camp, or expensive depending on the quaility of hotel you book,we are paying 90.00 us per night for our hotel room.
The what ever your costs would be to get to Mexico.
I would strongly recomend that you preride your section, it should take you about 8 hours per day to pre-ride your section and I would recommend you do it ayt least twice.
You could show up an ride on race day, the course is marked and arrowed, you will just be slower.
The best scenario would be to arrive about a week or so before the race then pre ride the course before the race .
This is our first year providing BAJA support, we are working with some very experienced Baja veteran team managers.
we are planning on supporting the whole "Best in the Desert series" and "Score desert series", including Reno Vegas and plan on doing this again next year.

For the record,We are for real.

Our service manager Bernie Wright, works as Cyril Despres Mechanic in many of the world Championship events, He also was the mechanic for Patsy Quicks team in the last 3 Dakar Rallys.
He has done the Dakar as a team mechanic 7 times, He worked as Simon Paveys Mechanic in the Trans Oriental Rally He has worked for most of the top rally riders and attended pretty well every one of the world Championship Rally events over the years. Bernie also built the bikes for the movie the long way down, he appeared in the movie "Race to Dakar".
There are 10 bikes listed In the magazine 30 years of the GS, Bernie built 8 of the 10 bikes featured in the magazine.

I have participated in the Dakar 3 times.
In the last year I have raced Dubai, Morocco, Tunisia, Italy rounds of the rally world Championship,

We count as our friends most of the top riders in the world, including most of the top Husaberg riders.

We have recently aquired the Husaberg line and had just discovered this form (Husaberg unofficial) I must admit our first experience was less then welcoming. It is not our intent to clutter up the forum with non-sense. Even though we won't post as often as most, hopefully you will find our posts are informative and helpful, our intent is to share our enthusiasm for the sport, racing and the brand with all Husaberg riders.

Just for all you folks out there that aren't aware....Don is for real!

He is an awesome down to Earth guy who represents what the sport is all about. I have had the opportunity to chat with him on a couple occasions. A couple years ago after he crashed out of Dakar he was nice enough to bring his crashed bike and support truck out to one of our club's rallys. He stayed there all day answering questions, telling stories, and letting us climb all over the support rig and check out the bike.

He recently brought Simon Pavey over and put on an offroad riding school. I have talked to a couple guys that did have the opportunity to take part in this....they said it was worth every penny, and was top shelf training and hospitality.

He has turned his shop into a destination. There is a coffee shop and the staff doesn't care if you stop in for a cup of java and just want to look around for a bit. I have been to the shop a couple times (it is a 2 hour drive and a 2 hour ferry from where I live) and the staff is super friendly...always keen to talk bikes. It isn't very often you walk in to a bigger bike store these days and feel so welcome. He has tried to target the dualsport/adventure/rallye market more than any other shop I have seen...truely showing his dedication to the sport he loves.

Here's a shot of a poster that hangs in my office.

Thanks Hberg1, Once I pay the safari off and negotiate with SWMBO I might get there. I could always dispatch the tin lids to Disney land or something while Dad goes and plays in the desert :bounce:

Just my $0.02, I looked into running the Baja 1000 a couple of years ago and this offer is a DEAL! Do a little research and you will see what I'm talking about.

I can't do it this year but I'm sure going to try and get my ducks in order to give it a try next year if you make the same offer.

THANKS!

I second what pistolpete77 has to say. Don's a great guy. I haven't met him personally but have alot of friends in the industry that have and have nothing but good things to say about him. He's also a Husaberg dealer.
Here's the man himself. Check the video link.

Be very keen to hear how the Bergs go at Baja and what you find from running them there.

Dont worry about Taffy.................sometimes he gets a bit behind on his medication and cuts it a bit loose and out there, but all in good fun
