We have now finalised our Team:
Riders: Don Hatton, Nick Caldwell, Paul Gallagher, Marc Ebdrup
Baja has been a logistics lesson,we have done rallys all over the world, transported trucks, bikes, and, people from Canada to all parts of the world this all pales compared to Baja support, we have close to 70 people and four support vehicles looking after 1 bike that will be raced for 24 hours.Preparing for the Baja makes the Dakar prep feel like a holiday.
The bike leaves for Baja on November 7th and all the parts have not yet arrived, most critical of these would be our suspension, although it is due Monday.
Most of our other parts have arrived, we have designed our own oil cooling system and remote oil filter mounting we are using the oil cooler off of my Dakar bike, just not enough time to wait for a new element. We have gained aprox .5 litre more oil capacity with the mods.
Engine is back together and should be very fast and reliable.
The lighting arrived with out mounting hardware, we have since solved that.
Would be great to have the bike finished by Tuesday or Wednesday to allow us some time for testing while we are still have access to our shop.
Tomorrow we test how the lights are going to affect handling, we have mounted them on my FE 450 just to get an idea how they will feel.
One thing that is very apparent from this build is how well built these bikes are constructed.
If there is time after testing I will post how the bike rides. In the interim feel free to stop by the shop and check out the build.
