hi all well i've made another ludicrious decision in my life. i'm leaving my wonderful girlfriend of many years and i am signed up to race in the baja 1000. i've bought bergers 650 (he wouldn't donate it to the cause, BASTARD) and have suckered 2 friends into racing with me. we are doing this on a shoestring budget. anyone interested in pre-running, most importantly helping pre run, support (moral), financial, would be welcomed. i will be needing some heavier fork springs, rear spring, lights, tires, and lots of macaroni and cheese and tuna fish as we will be camping.
thanx cheeseberger

Cheese,
Is that running down to La Paz, or is it the loop down & back to Ensenada? Will you need support crew during the race? If so what capacity? Sorry to ask so many questions, but I have access to couple of older guys that have Baja expierience and while might not be into riding the pre run might like to chase and offer support during the race.

Thanks
Ron

Mr. Cheeseberger, I will keep in touch, I am shaking out some scheduled activities in Oct and Nov, and hope to be able to assist as pit crew-cheering section. Maybe Stoveguy and I could get in touch and travel together. Buzzard

this years race runs from ensenada to la paz. any support would be welcomed. yes, someone to drive a chase vehicle would be sweet. some double RON/colorado support would be awesome. Buzzard we'll make you president/chief/RAD mechanic DUDE.

your lights stator reg rec and springs are on there way to berger .i will also get you some tires .two dunlop 755s for the front and two maxxis deserts for the rear..i talked to berger about the wiring and he understood what to do .i could also send you the heavy tubes ..not bad for a ktm dealer ..good luck and call me if you need anything else my heart is still blue and yellow ..tim

tim you rock, thank you soooo much. off to the desert to mountain bike 2 days and ride the berg near green river utah for 3 days.

From the strange but true department...

There's a race team here in SF that's planning to race Honda XR100's in this years Baja 1000.

Sure to be a classic tortise versus the hare race saga.

in reply to the frogs post about cost.not counting the motorcycle an average baja effort will cost about three to five thousand dollars .entry fees fuel lights bike setup accommodations etc etc ..thats for the rider and one chase truck.each truck after that can expect to spend one to three thousand depending on how much they drive were they stay etc...i have raced the 1000 four times and the 500 twice.so these cost are conservative because i already have most of the bike paraphernalia .i have a small class-c motor home that i take down there and park then ride the course on my dual sport for pre ride .this has worked out well....the last 500 we won the 250 sportsman class on a ktm 250 sxf...it was a great day.....good luck and keep me posted hope the stuff helps .call me if you have any questions......tim

thanx again TIM from BADLANDS RACING in Las Cruces NM for all the goodies and support. also a big thanx to BERGER for all his help and effort getting the bike dialed. things are coming together and we are very excited. you guys RULE :D
