auto decomp starting issues

Gday all
after reading the post on decompression timing I checked mine and
it opened at approx 85 btdc and closed at 25 btdc lift 0.25mm 10 thou
the kick start is like kicking a brick wall 25btdc is a bit early to close?
would e start but it tore the teeth of the gear that runs off the starter
just making a new one

It has a cbr starter i belive ?
are they the same size gear 9 tooth 15mm dia
what size is the husaberg ?

try my manual de - comkp modification. works a treat and was originally done so that i could manually decomp on the starter motor. i'm sure you're aware that if you pull it the black bar lever takes control of your hand normally. well it's ok this way.

there are so many issues as to why they don't start. have you got an hour?

too small a battery CCA
de comp worn
tappets not right
sprague worn
sprague - wrong parts
not beefier enough starter

the list goes on.

batterys got plenty of go
the starters fine it removed the teeth off the gear
tappets spot on
sprague nothing wrong with
de comp ? pull it all apart
note it does start instantly when hot

do you know what size the starter gear is and how many teeth it should have any one have one they could measure ???

03 Starter is 9tooth, 11.65mm od if you use 2 teeth flat against 1 vernier jaw and one tooth against the other (most accurate way to do it). Gear protrudes approx 24.3mm from end of starters alloy housing

Later model ones may differ ??
