its a nice fit and feels real comfortable when on the pegs and siting

usual Aqualine tanks type of price I would say, similar to the Honda CRF ones, but dont quote me, they will sort that out when the production ones are ready for sale, but thats my guess.

Kewl!

Thanks for the pics.

I'll probably start off with the rear saddle tank since that should give me plenty of capacity.

Once the Christini mod is out and I determine whether I will get one (I suspect I will, but you never know - it is spendy and stuff happens) then I'll see whether I can use the front tank. I am not sure how Christini mods the tanks to work with their 2WD mod, but since this is a separate unit that increases the chance that I could get it to work together.

How you are going to compensate suspension-wise for the rear tank when it's full and empty? It's a 10kg (+/-) on the far end....

About 8 kg actually (gas weighs .76 kg per liter).

That isn't that much weight, with much of it below the height of the seat. I make more of a difference to the suspension by sitting on the seat v. standing on the pegs. But I suppose I could adjust the rear shock a bit. Also, if possible, I would try to use the fuel in the saddle tank first. Not sure what the plumbing will be though.

I am more concerned with the mass of the gasoline moving up and down. I will probably try to stuff the tank with those foam inserts to lessen that effect. It would be cool if Aqualine offered the option of providing the tank with it already filled with foam. I suppose though, since they are probably roto-molded, they wouldn't have any more advantage to putting the foam in than a buyer would. Maybe there is some foam that could be sprayed in, but I haven't seen any.

Either way, I would mostly use these tanks for those times when I would be on an extended back country trip or on a ride where there is a questionable supply of gas, and again, use the fuel in the saddle tank first. I don't race/compete so I would be willing to live with a little bit of extra weight to get the extra range in those situations.

I will have to see how the bike handles it. I think the use case where I would be most concerned is tight technical trails where suspension is less of a factor than weight balance. It is better to have such options than not though, and I am going to avail myself of the option while it is available.

1st - it's extrusion blowing process, not roto-molding. Not that its make any difference (beside the precision of the product and the cost of the mold)

2nd - the 8 kg (+ tank weight) is not so critical if it was more to the center and if it was constant. We know how to re-adjust suspension for different weight.
Problem here is that the weight is far back, what gives greater leverage on the rear shock.
Worse is that this weight is disappearing while riding...

I guess it's all compromise, and we should set the suspension for semi full tank and to learn to leave with both extremes, when its full or empty.

Most rallye riders set their bikes up wiht 50% fuel front & rear to get a compromise balance

It's September....

The production run is not ready yet.
But with some great help, I could get one of the pre-production units, and in few days a supposed to have it in my hands.

worst case I will sell you a set of our '09 Aqualine tanks we got for the Australian Safari, but yes I reckon you will be safe to get them by the end of the year latest.
