Brendan,
The bikes you see and hear the pros like Lampkin, Frexia, Fuginami, etc. ride are a little on the loud side and yes some people are concerned this will detract from the sport but a wound out 2 stroke getting ready to launch up a 10 ledge is loud also just different. I love the sound as 4 stroke lovers agree the sound is pure *** (what's that)-kinda like listening to a Ducati.
The pro bikes are bigger bore (270 or 280?) , bigger headers and with no restrictors anywhere throughout the exhaust. Stock bikes like mine are much quiter and shipped with all 3 restrictors which are removable if you want to experiment with the power to noise ratios. I chose to remove all restrictors but did not open the end snout of the muffler other than modifying to accept a spark arrestor tip. Wifey says much nicer than listening to the Gas Gas I used to ride. Doesn't stink up the yard up either.
The claimed weight of the bike is 165 and is accurate. Weight freaks compare to their GGassers and brag about the 13 lb. difference but it's like trail bikes- you don't really notice it and the 4 stroke power keeps ya grinning especially on the loop between sections. The extra weight is not only a little heavier motor but also from adding integrity throughout the bike for more dependability and longevity. Weight increase is slightly noticed during hopping manuvers but not a hindrance.
I hope you enjoy the Scorpa, I don't know much about them but if you need help or information I bet Adrian at lewisportusa.com could be of assistance and not to far away from you either (Copperopolis out 4 from Stockton) Tell em I sent you.
Trials bikes are excellent trail bikes going everywhere but standing up. There are seat and tank options for some bikes but I think defeats the purpose. Hey and by the way don't feel bad about not affording a 4rt-I had to sell 2 bikes and still feed dough to get one but so glad I did. That is why I have been without a trail bike and have saved a long time to get a Berg. You will be seeing used ones around soon at super savings . Anyway I will do more research into comparing the exact differences in the crf and 4rt and will contribute later after consulting the experts. There is also Trials Central and Trials Comp forums to consult--lottsa great info. . Also check out the Sacramento trials club P.I.T.S.
Good luck and have fun with Scorpy!!

I checked with my dad who has a crf250x, and he told me the valve actuating part is completely different.

I visited Adrian once, about a month or so ago, to have him check out my Fantic that is making a bunch of unruly noise. While I was there, he graciously let me ride a couple of gas gas bikes around. That was the first and only time I have ridden anything other than my clapped out '89 Fantic. I did not like the motor characteristics, so gas gas when to the bottom of my preferred list.

I also picked up a "long ride" tank/seat option for the bike. I plan on using it mostly as my hardcore, technical trail bike. I find their "long ride" designation to be a joke, though. They need to make a tank with about 80-100 mile range. I cannot see how a 2 gallon tank option is too much to ask for. As an outsider observing, I believe that is one of the main problems with trials, why in america it is on the endangered species motorsports list. Tiny tanks and no seat.

Valve system is not like an XR. XR's have valves arranged in a radial configuration and have a sub rocker to remove the side load on the valve stems from the straight motion of standard rocker configuration. Is most similar to a husaberg/older husqvarna.

repeat from above.

ALL my regular riding buddies ( 8 of them so far) who have test rode my FE450e have been very impressed. they come from orange, blue, green and red bikes.

The Husaberg is a winner. Read the March 05 24 hour dirt rider reviews and you'll see that many pro riders liked the berg a lot.

my take: It is the shortest stroke bike out there. the lightest E start 450 thumper on the planet with the battery down low for low center of gravity. the Bike snorts and rips and is flickable like a MX bike on the trails. beautiful designed machine, minimalist in its approach. great suspension and easy trail buddy riding with good power and a wide ratio tranny that will go so fast up top you'll never get there........

Nice husaberg accessories available. Cool bike to own and be a part of this clan.

I used to have a semi-trials bike,a Bultaco 250 Alpina.
A fantastic bike for slow narley trails. But in the fast
sections even my buddy on his Suzuki TS125 used to
blow by me.I almost bought a King Scorpion instead,
wish I would have.
