nsman,

You are making me all teary eyed with your observations of the Canuck influence. The first bike I ever raced was an infamous 1982 CanAm 250 Qualifier...made by Bombardier. It was a Hare Scramble in your back yard....Shubie. 1982 was the last year they were made in Canada before things went to England.

I am still amazed to this day how awesome that bike was. It was ready to race right out of the crate...much like a Berg is today. That rotax engine was wicked fast compared to its siblings at the time.

If anyone knows where one is at...I WANT IT. There would be a reward involved.

Coffin,
I know a guy that has quite a in depth collection of Can-Ams I will check if he has this model.
A bit of trivia for you.
Did you know that Can -Am built a 500cc GP bike, it was a special rotax engined 2 stroke liquid cooled twin, assembled in Valcourt Que.It only ever had one outing, as far as I know, and that was at a club race at AMP(shubenacadie ns).It ran well and the rider was Jim Allen who was a development rider for Can Am at the time. Most people know Jim today as the Dunlop Race tire tech for AMA pro racing.Shortly after the bikes debut Can Am decided that they would concentrate their efforts on 4-strokes and the GP bike was mothballed.I wonder what ever happened to that bike?
