still having trouble w the idle.ive checked the valves there fine, cleaned the carb and all air pass.and jets.its a dellorto phm 40mm i went up a size and down a size on the pilot.it ran or idled a little better but after 15-20 seconds it would die.and thats only if the mix screw is turned in almost all the way about a1/4 turn from bottom and idle screw about the same, almst all the way in.i went from a 48 to a 45 pilot thats when it would idle for a few seconds and at start up would backfire thruogh carb.it has no problem starting when cold or hot and i noticed that even with the mix screw turned in so far, when i hit the throttle i would get black smoke, not alot but enough to see it.also its running a 175 main jet not sure bout choke.if someone could point me in the right direction i would really appreciate it. thanks

look through the carb with the slide up. the atomiser should be virtually flush with the base of the throat.

carbs your bikes age need a new float valve, float arm and even floats!

let me know the code written under the slide. "/50" or "/40" probably.

let us have the code of the choke jet, the PJ size, needle code, atomiser code. i think you said that the MJ was 175. i need to know the lot!

thanks taffy for your reply ill get that info for you.its late here so it will be in the am.
thanks agian.

On my 98 600 , I have a 35 pilot jet right now and will try a 33 pj soon, K51 needle, second clip from the top 170 Main jet, runs strong, still could use a little fine tuning. I picked up some new jets from Taffy I still have to try. Hope this helps.

hey taffy i got the info you requested under slide is 40,mj 175,pj 45,choke 45,nj 270dr
fuel vave is a 300.thanks for your time.

i'd have thought that a 38/40max for PJ. 40 choke jet, with new 'O' ring, get a new needle (K51) and atomiser (DR270). get a 185MJ to try with that 175 to see which helps the top end. sound like the needle wants to be raised a clip and you need a new plug. could be the end of your SEM coming up.

Taffy

SEm is the brand of ignition used on pre 2004 Husabergs. It's usually used when reffering to the stator. The SEM stators are prone to failure.
