Hello husapeeps, now I know bushie and bergbro are going to cain me for this but my beast will not start. At first I suspected a fouled plug and faulty plug cap but this is not the case. So today I checked ;

Injector pulse, ok. Unplug tps open throttle and crank starter fuel sprays in yay !
Ignition pulse generator resistance and operation. All good
Coil primary resistance was in the range .5 ohms
Coil signal wire from ecu resistance 2 ohms
Coil ground to neg post of battery 2 ohms
Valve clearances ok
Kill button
Spark, it will jump a 10mm gap but is orange and seems inconsistent when the plug body is grounded.

Now in the manual there is no resistance or voltage values for the stator, reg/rectifier values, no values for coil secondary resistance ( I measured it at 16k ohms )

My question is does anyone know the missing values ? And does 16k ohms sound ok anywhere near plausible for secondary coil resistance

I suppose you have checked compression? My last pistonfailure resulted in a little loss of compression and the bike didn't start.

Oh dear ! While I was Checking the valve clearances I spun the back wheel to find tdc, I could hear and feel it there. What happened to your piston ?

Looks like I answered my own question about the coil, part #59039006000 ( superceedes 50339006000 ) this coil is used on basically everything ktm have made from 1996 and 10-16k ohms is the accepted values for the secondary coil. :(

Pieces from clutch in screenfilter.Maximum rpm at 5th gear witout oilcooling/lubracation under piston...Never thought a 565cc could stop that quick[ASTONISHED FACE]

 my condolences, be happy you're not the first to suffer this.

Ive done some research .....................

and I think you should try this

just to see if its the fuel system or the spark

Ah ha yes your research has borne bounteous fruit !

I tried wd spray and some fuel still had the odd pop or fart. Maybe I need some ether. I might even let the bike have some.

The spark wire to ground gave me a reading of 13.3k ohms.

interesting, I skyped Tech support for you, the girls were very helpful but i can't remember what they said about the ether  so all I can do is capture the general mood of the conversation

I am a fan of your research, bushmechanic! The old "start ya bastard" has served me well in the past!

And yes that's what I had to hand so I tried it. The retailers in this town don't stock start ya bastard. What am I supposed to do order a can of it so you stop taking the piss out of me ?

Sorry mate I just thought Id help out by sending you a couple sets of cans

Thanks mate  it did help out I laughed pretty hard ! After i saw the cans a song called "dirty magic" By the offspring came on the stereo, pretty funny too. I'm just bummed out about this thing

I got the sulks on today and did some reloading because I was sulking, that's why I took the picture of my "horse whip"

Man I looked up another parts fiche today and got this # 58439006000 for the coil  the one I posted previously is incorrect. 58439006000 is only common with some late models and info is scarce. Edit. Then I go here and the numbers are the same http://www.motosport.com/dirtbike/oem-parts/58439006000

Did you check the fuel pressure?

I just had a regulator go bad. You should be getting 3.5 bar for it to run proper. I had a loot of your symptoms, injector checked good, pulsing too while turning over, fuel at the injector, fuel pump running, BUT DRY PLUG.

Further, the battery voltage cannot drop below 10.5 volts while cranking or it won't start.

I see you tried the starting fluid, did you try pouring in a little gasoline to see if it would run?

I said it before and I´ll say it again, check compression!
I had exactly same symphtons, felt and Heard compression when cranking but was not enough.this was 2h after first rebuild with new rod.
The wheeliebeast was blowing like a wind out of the venthose from the rockercover...

Well Thankyou all very much for your replies, advice, humour and encouragement. Turns out the woodruff key in the flywheel sheared off :cuss:

Had this happen on a Yamaha wr500, I nearly set that bike on fire.

I had a 97 model husky tc 610 where the magnets lost their bond with the flywheel producing the same result. Again that Bike almost got shot/burnt.

Moral of the story is, I over analysed the situation. If you got spark fuel air and compression then is the spark occur in at the right time ?
Happy days thanks again husapeeps
