5000 Miles - 200 Engine Hours - Still Thumping!

Well the odometer on the my 05 FS650E clicked over the 5000 mile and 200 engine hour marks recently.

:D

Aside from some crunchy rocker arm roller bearings replaced at 160 hours the bike has run like a champ.

I think it's fair to say that the Husaberg mechanical & electrical gremlins of years past have been resolved.

Braaaap!

That's what I like to hear.

Any problems with weep holes?

The weep holes appear to be working as designed. Only minimal weepage (spelling?) observed after hard use.

Always use caution (water pump & kickstart shaft protective sleeves, etc) when replacing the left side case cover during major service. Minor damage to the pump shaft o-ring can result in excessive weep hole activity.

8050 kms thats pretty good.

How often do you change oil? km or hours

How often do you change oilfilter? every change every second change

Any other info you can give us?

The bike is used as my daily around town driver, 80% on the street and 20% on the track. The owners manual recommends oil changes every 3 engine hours but I've been lazy and change the oil on a regular basis every 6-10 engine hours. Sometimes I use Delo400, sometimes Redline synthetic, sometimes Motul 4T synthetic, etc. I replace the oil filter every other oil change and check the valves every 30-40 engine hours. If I was using the bike 80% of the time at the track I would change the oil every 3 hours and check the valves more frequently.

When starting the bike cold I try to let it idle for a minute before I take off and then I go easy on the motor for another few blocks to allow for even warmup before rapping hard on the throttle.

So far so good. Now that I've gone and boasted of such trouble free operation something is bound to go wrong soon. :)
