Sams had a stage win, Annie and David are both being super consistent and Mick Heuchan #73 is doing very well (all on bergs)

unfortunately in things bergish Manuel crashed and got the chopper, Gazza crashed also on the same obstacle and Damien's engine died.

from ADVrider... Gazza airlifted to hospital broken shoulder and punctured lung, Cyril out with a bit of metal through his boot into his foot, Manuel unable to continue during the stage got a lift on a truck. Damien s got a timber puncture in one of his lower limbs and sam although flying has problem with his clutch and did not finish the stage

looks like Annie and David still doing well and privateer William Coole on a berg now in top ten and Mick Heuchan still doing an outstanding job.

Deiner after cooking his engine and getting a max penalty is back out there and provisionally looks like now in 6th overall, amazing stuff really.

http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthre ... 302&page=6

3 bergs in top 10 and one in 11th, NO katooms

I guess there are a couple more vids to come and then the official results

when Gazza recovers a little he might have some more to add about this years event in general and how the bikes went. hope you recover quickly Garry, punctured lung is a nasty scratch.

The bikes did very well, we had 9 riders on our team, plus there where another 4 Bergs on Safari, all the Bergs did well. Damien's piston on Day 5 was the only mechanical issue, it popped a hole in the dome. We had planned to change his motor out on Day 4, but because of his big day 3 crash he was feeling very 2nd hand and felt he was off the pace and it wasnt worth it. Damo is a top national level racer and he rides the bike higher in the rev range for longer than most, we figure that if we had just swapped out the piston on Day 4 all would have been sweet.

ALL the other bikes did the full event (or until the rider dnf'd :( ) on the orginal stock engine, even Manuel's FE450 and man did he rev the tits off it !!!!!

These bikes ARE STRONG, now we have around 75,000 racing km with the 70 degree slopers and so far only 2 big ends (both very early 2009 production motors) and 1 piston failure (2012 motor).

Sam Sunderland is a rocketship, easily as fast as Ben Grabham and sometimes faster, with a bit more rally experience and some consistency he will give it a BIG nudge in 2012 Safari :D he won 4 stages this year, and thats after a HUGE day 1 crash as a result of hitting a roo at about 140kph !!

Next stop is Dakar 2012 with David Schwarz & Rod Faggotter :D
