I'm still in the break in stage, What is the top speed?
Ive had only to 50. I'm sure it will go faster if I let it

I have had mine up to 140 KM pr/hour. Thats according to the speedo of course :!:

Looki

I don't know. I am afraid to go much more than 90 MPH indicated with a knobby front tire that isn't balanced. I have heard the 570 will do 100+ MPH with stock gearing - I don't know if that is true speed or what the speedo says.

When i was running 13/52 i had no problems doing 100 mph, Now i have it at 12/52 about 75mph is the limit.
Trouble doing those speeds, I have found the rear mousse does not last very long. :)

I have been to 90 MPH indicated with 12/52 gearing and it was still going.

A friend and I removed the front fender of a FS650 (back in 2003 I think) and went for a top speed test. We got past the magic 200km/h mark with a 3km/h margin. 203km/h equals 126mph. Bike was stock apart from a full FP system.

A 390 will not do 203km/h but I think that it will manage some 180km/h with the "right" wheels and gearing.

If you had no problem doing 100 mph with 13/52, which is doubtful with that low gearing, you should have no problem going 92 mph with 12/52 gearing at the same RPM.

Agreed, one tooth won't knock it down that much. I think I lost at most maybe 10 MPH at highway speeds for a given RPM - probably a bit less. I don't have a tach so naturally I can't say for certain, but that is the feel for me. With 12/52 the bike will feel like it is lugging in 6th at about 50 to 55 MPH. I have had the bike up above 90 MPH indicated with that same gearing so I am probably doing at least 80+ MPH true. With that unbalanced knobby on the front (vibrates quite a lot at highway speeds) I just don't feel safe trying to go much faster on pavement. If I had some SM wheels/tires I would go give a try in a minute.

I think it is important for people to realize that unless the speeds they are reporting were from a GPS or other similar accurate device, they are probably seeing an inflated or 'optimistic' number. In my experience most modern motorcycles and cars are anywhere from 2% to 10% (or more) high in the numbers their speedo displays. The odometer is usually fairly accurate, but the speedo is almost always set high on purpose for various reasons (to cut down on tickets and for liability reasons - yes, some years ago I think it was Dodge that was sued for an accident where the car/truck involved had a speedo that displayed a speed several MPH *below* the true speed, and ever since then, maybe before, most motor vehicles have had speedos that display numbers some percentage above the true speed).

During the Force ride I hade a 2010 390 with the competition map at 8500 ft to 94mph indicated on odo.Flat decending hard pack road.

I think maybe a lot of it might have been in my head, Just seems now running 12/52 the engine is rev 'ing its nuts off at about 75 mph.
Maybe it would go faster, just don't want to see the engine fly to pieces for no reason :)

If the bike is broken in it won't hurt to bounce it off the rev-limiter a time or two - I have (in lower gears) and my bike is still in one piece. That is what the rev-limiter is there for - so it won't explode.

This might not be much help but my 570 has gone 103 mph on 13/52 gearing and thats it and no it hasn't flown to bits. IMHO there is no point cracking the limiter as that fat meaty torque band is more fun.

WOW, that's really pushing the rev limiter. At an actual 103 MPH, with 13/52 gearing, the engine would be buzzing at 9,600+ RPM!!

Yes that is limiter in top cog, 165km/h indicated, I'm too f*cking lazy to get a calculator and do the sums. I did say "thats it"

My 570 was still pulling like a freight train at 130Kph but my kahooners were just not big enough to go any faster :(

nah nothing to do with cojones Davo, it has been said I am a power mad crack head. On a side noteI rode my brothers 11 570 and man it wails, think the 09 might need a top end freshen up.
