Are there any users out there who would like to share there experiences with the new '09 Berg. The ups and especially the downs too.

The factory warns dealers that after derestriction the mapping also needs to be " derestricted"
For that procedure the dealer needs the change the mapping from "homologation mapping" to "open mapping"
To do so the dealer has to have the XC-1 DIA diagnostic tool ( a whopping € 2000,-)

Anyone can comment on that as well?

Cheers, Adriaan

Please define "de-restricting", Homologation mapping.

Thanks

Thank you Adirann,

I have another question. These de restrictions that are listed in the pdf file, are these applicable to the USA versions, or just Euro versions?

Thanks,

Dale

Hi Dale,
To be honest, I don't know. The USA dealers should have that info.
But looking at the PDF file my guess is that the same restritions are present on the USA models. In the fichefinder I couldn't find any info / partnumbers about this.

Cheers,
Adriaan

Thanks schwim,

If you could email it to [removed] that would be great. I pick up my fe450 tomorrow and plan to immediately put an akropovic on it.

It's been sent. Let me know if you don't get it as some email systems strip/block pdf, pps, etc as potential virus threats.

thanks,

Hi Adriaan,

I will check with a US dealer. In the past, the US bikes have been delivered NON restricted.

Dale

OK,

so it seems that Europe has tougher emission demands than USA/California.
But apart from the remapping issue it's not a big deal.

Chers,

ups and downs...here you go

Just to give you what we've come across on a dealer level as we have had 3 seperate demo days with our 2009 FE450 demo...What I state below is no exageration and is not intended to help increase berg sales...besides, if you are on this site and inputting on this forum, you're already a berg fan...that being said, here we go...

Two Mondays ago, we had a 9 rider A loop trail ride where we got to ride our 08 450 demo back to back with our 09 450 demo...WOW WHAT A DIFFERENCE...I know, I know I rode the 09 at the dealer meeting, but the loop their was a crappy one with mountains of dust...in fact, there wasn't much time to get alot of riding in at the dealer meeting, so I figured I would get enough riding when the demo arrived...I AM NOT KIDDING, the bike fealt like I was hopping on a 250 four stroke with more power...in fact, our Demo Husky TXC250 fealt more top-heavy in turns to me...I would seriously equate the difference of riding an XR600R and then riding the then new YZ400...that much of a drastic difference, but still "Husaberg", and, it is my opinion that the 09 berg goes beyond what Yamaha did. I dont doubt that other manufacturers will be following suit.

Every person that tried the bike that day, could not express enough how crazy the difference was when compared to their own bike, everyone raved about the suspension (we didnt touch a clicker once), they thought the bike weighed 50 lbs less, they loved the tractorable power, the look, the seat comfort...we heard it all that day. Riders brought KTM 250F, CRF450, KTM250 2smoke, CRF250X, etc. etc.

I had a Dad and his son come and try the bike (They own a ton of dirt bikes) and the Dad said that he fealt that the 09 berg was "WOW, that is the best bike I ever ridden".

We had a customer buy a 07 FE550e from us recently (trade in), and he loves that bike...he's and older, expert rider who figured the new bike wouldn't be worth the price difference (4500 for the trade in and 9500 for the 09). After he rode it, he looked at me with a grin on his face and stated "worth every penny".

A Vet Expert OMRA rider who races an 08 Husaberg, rode the 09 demo last weekend in Bend, OR and asked afterword what we would give him for trade...he liked the bike so, much that he voluntarily wrote us a testimonial for our web page.

Another OMRA Expert rider we call...Smokin' Joe, told us before riding it that there is no way the bike was worth the 9500 price tag...When he was done, he said "worth every penny". In fact, he said he may even go see Boss soon.

There was a AA rider that tried the bike, blew a huge hole in the front tire and came back asking if we had plans on sponsoring anyone...

So, the only downside I hear from all that are riding it, is price...and in this economy, price is everything, however, with the prices of all other brands going up, and for what you get with the 09 berg, its really not that much more, but the bike you get is above and beyond ANYTHING else out there...I AM NOT KIDDING ABOUT THIS...sure I'm slightly biased towards the brand...but, as you've read above, I even compared the bike to an 08...

We've had customers ask about parts availability...so far, I've had no problem stocking my shelves with the plastics, seals, gaskets, etc...so the other dealers local to you will have the same ease.

BOTTOM LINE, Ride one yourself, if your not sure about the price tag...it will change your mind...

I hope this helps...

:D Great wright up!! I wish i would have been able to attend the fall classic along
side you!! Good job with your demo it will pay you back in trumps, but you new that!!
& smokin joe called wanting one thank's Bikebarnbeckman!!!!!!

Hey USA bikes come throttled down too, however not at the level of the euro bikes.

One has to remove the complete end of muffler if they plan on riding anywhere other

than private land! Had to miss a great race weekend last week addressing this issue!!

One can find several way's of addressing this in the exaust fourm here. Also the bikes

come to the states in the standard map setting so one will want to get the map switch

that is avalible! 50.99 for map switch & muffler fix is around 200.00!
