i'M SERIOUSLY CONSIDERING BUYING THIS 2008 FE550E if the dealer can manage to get my 5inch 160/60 rear tire to fit. it doesn't fit so, he's trying to find out id the swing arm for the FS model is wider?? Does anyone know the answer to this?? but also would like to get the black plastics from a 2007 FS550e model and put them on this 2008 FE550e. does anyone know where in the USA i can order these black plastics? and will they fit?

I don´t understand the probs with the 5 inch rim and tire. Search for "trick for mounting 5 inch rim" There is only one swing arm for FS and FE.

Yeah, i saw the trick for mounting the 5inch rear and i read all the tricks but, i was at the husaberg dealer yesterday afternooon for hours while they tried to put my 5inch 160/60 rear on the 2008 FE550e and they had four mechanics trying to get it on--they took all the air out of the tire, they took off the rear brake disc, but the 5inch rim would not get past the horizontal rear disc holder on the inside of the swingarm. after that, they were under the impression that their is a size differrence between the FS swingarm and the FE swingarm. i'm dying to know the answer but i'm in the domincan republic and i cannot call husaberg in the USA from here.

Can someone give me a phone number or email address in the USA where i can call them or email them becuase i went to the husaberg international site and tried their "Dealer locator" and the only thing came up was and address and phone (440-985-6003 in OHIO but no one answered the Fuc..... phone! and the recorded message doesn't even mention the word Husaberg anywhere in the recording! is there no dealer or parts dealer that specializes in Husaberg in the USA??

I honestly don't think there is a difference at all! One way to check is for your dealer to look up the parts specifications for the hub/axle/spacers between sm and enduro - if there's a difference between the swingarm, it'll be obvious.

The trick with a 5 inch rear rim is that you must bring it in sideways and around the rear brake caliper bracket. It will not go in straight whichever way you try it.

As I've said before. You pull the caliper backwards as far as you can, then you bring the rear wheel in sideways at an angle and slightly low so you end up hooking it round the rear brake caliper. Then as you swing it round straight and upwards you will probably find the tyre catches on the chain guard stuff on the other side - you just push it passed this catching.

Thanks. i will wait for the answer from the dealer to tell me if there is any difference between the FS vs FE swingarm? if there is no defference, then i will head back to the dealer and try Round 2!

Oh yeah, i was wondering if there is any difference between the swingarms between the 2007 FE vs FS models?

franknorway,

I have spent time with this issue as well.....to the best of my knowledge the FE and FS swingarm are the same (dimensions) with the exception of the chain guide mount and the brake caliper mount post. The FE brake caliper mounting post has a flange on the tip which only allows removal of the caliper once it is slid all the way forward. Whereas the FS brake caliper mount post has that tip cut off. This allows you to put the caliper onto the post from nearly any position. That being said I assume your swingarm does not have the flange tip on the post. With the caliper swung out of the way, I roll the wheel about half way in then place the caliper onto the mount post and line it up to accept the rotor, then roll the wheel the rest of the way in. It actually goes pretty smoothly. Hope this helps.

PM me if you want pics of the "tip" and "no tip". You can mod your FE by just cutting it off...doesn't affect its function when you go back to an 18" wheel.

I spoke to the Husaberg dealer today and he said that the swingarm for the 2008 FS model was on its way. So, i'll find out when it arrives whether or not it is the same size as the FE model?? most people have said it is the same size and, well, i tend to suspect that they're right. still, i'm curious to find out?

PS. The husaberg distributor in Ohio called me yesterday down here in the dominican republic and told me that he thought the swingarms were the same width. i thought that very generous of him to make a long distant call all the way down here to answer my question. Very Nice Indeed!

Everyone who responded were right on the money: on my second trip to the dealer, my 5 inch 160/60 17 fit inside the swingarm of the 2008 FE550E. thanks to everyone who replied to my question. my only question now is: my axel sliders from my KTM would not fit with this model because they are unable to slide through the wheel like they are can on the older KTM's. there is something in-between the axel on newer Husabergs, and I imagine, on newer KTM models that impedes the hole through the axel.

Ah yes, you've got a Distanza on there - that'll be why it was difficult to fit. Even though it is a 160 it is a wider fitment than a 165 Dunlop race wet :)

Enjoy your riding.
