2006 Model Year Demo Meeting

Cool!! Thanks Brett. It was a great event and I am really stoked that you got some good pics. Obviously the pictures make me seem like a better rider than I really am! You can't even see my beer gut :twisted:

I just got back to Canada after flying all night and I'm missing the desert all ready. It was great to see some old friends and to make some new ones. The bikes worked great, dealers had a blast pounding them around the 10 mile loop we had in Hungry Valley and no one got hurt. Perfect!

Reno Test!

It was nice to meet some of you people,and it was big fun for me!
I had a good time on all the bikes, but the 550 just seems the most ready for the west. The 650 takes a little more time to get up to speed than the 550 and the 450 would be the perfect bike for the woods.
I had my05 fc550to ride back to back just to see if you could detect any big changes. I must say that for some reason the 06 models seemed to turn better. I am not sure what that was all about, but you can notice a little different sound coming from the motors that sounds a little more main stream. ( a good thing } I do feel the 450 turns on a dime and the 550 is very good but the 650 is more bike than my 200lbs could handle in the rocks. I think the 550 has the best stock power band ever made and could deal with a few other little things. Thanks to NMS for having me along for the test.

As a side note, there were a set of 2005 FEs (450/550/650) at the test as well which you will notice in the pictures. This gave all the riders a chance to compare each model of 2006s to the 2005s.

I also noticed that the new bikes seemed to have a different sound. I suspect it relates to the new gas tank design which appears to have new ducts driving more air to the intake. My theory was that this changed the intake sound. Does that make any sense?

possible camshaft change by the sounds of it (pun intended!) the other is the silencer packing.
