i would post this on the supermoto forum but we dont have one .so if this does not apply to your riding choice,if you cant understand those little fat tires or the brake overkill please take no offense.i was told there is a model of Husabergs called a fs450 c.i have never seen one,i have seen the 650 c and it was pretty bad ***!i was told by someone in the know that the bike is not really up to power compared to the KTM 450 SMR.That surprised me.firstly can anyone confirm this and if so, why is it so :?: dan.

well maybe we can all work out this one together dan?

if you get a SM section i may not read your question? you may be ages waiting for someone to reply.

i think nearly all the SM riders on this site are on 650s if any.

the KTM has a longer stroke-way longer which must give it a bigger hit off the corners. after all SM is mainly in 2nd and 3rd gears.

i think the ktms are on 64mm stroke and the huseys are on 58. i would imagine the that the 450 still doesn't get the '08' or newer coded '000' cam from the 650 either.

my usual dealer here in the UK has been sponsoring and running sam warren for two years now. he's not a good tuner really, sam ermelenko (yes the USA speedway rider) does a lot to help him.

just recently i put it too him that he needs to get the 400 crank back (60mm) and buy a 450 ktm piston that's +2mm (97mm) that would make a 450 LS engine. standard is 100 x 58.

woessner do a piston. lineweaver has done two or three of these.

it works out that the squish is perfect as well so basically the combustion chamber is made for about a 95-97mm piston in my opinion.

but 450 huseys were 23 and 5 on TV yesterday here in the UK and they were beaten by a better rider not bike.

It has been proven time and time again
that the torque curve is controlled by port
velocity and tuning, not by the stroke.Did the
FX470 have a better cam? It was a short
stroke motor and I walked right away from
450 KTMs

first of all TJT your bike had the 400's crank to go with the same 100mm bore that the current 450 possesses. there are many factors involved in this including light weight and the fact that the berg cam despite being a viscious ***** does do it's job of creating a lot of torque.

it would appear though that the 450 isn't running either the 53 or 55 cam though...

so the bikes are different. as i've said the huseys came 2nd, 3rd and 5th so they can't have that much wrong with them.

every change is suttle and open to conjecture...even when you win with something somebody will argue the point the other way.

taffy

From what I understand the FS450c is more of a racer than the FS650c since the 450 has the more brutal engine of the FC450 (titanium valves and so on) and the FS650 has the same engine as the FE650. Now I'm talking internal parts and not 1mm bigger carb and so on.

See husaberg.se - motorbikes - supermoto. The pics of the 450c are incorrect and show the 450e.

I agree.

FS450 2005 is very much wanted as a SM version.

Especially in many tracks for SM, the 450 offers almost better set up than its big brother.

Anyway and despite I love my 650. ....

my question stems from more of a couriousity about a 450 sm machine that can be purchased and basically ridden right out of the crate.as far as i know there are only 3 racing sm 450 that can be purchased at this time,TM,KTM AND Husaberg.there are a host of mxers that are converted that i am sure put out good power.in the end those bikes cost a bundle and i question whether they are worth the money.the question i pose still stands ,is the 2005 husy fs450c in the running powerwise out of the crate not doing a bunch of motor work to make it in the hunt?i dont feel talking about a 650 or a 2004 ect is of relevance.someone out there must be contesting a series on a 2005 fs450,how does she stand up :?:

Like I said in my earlier post I AM running an 05 FS450c IN competition and have yet to be beat by ANY other brand and they are all there. NO mods bone stock out of the crate Fast bike. Adjust the clickers add bar protection go race.

sorry Dirtberger.when i saw you were in Minnesota i wrongly assumed you had a fs450e as you must be the only person in the US to have a c model.how about someone from europe or australia ,where these bikes are as common as clover, offering a story or two about whipping up on the competition.bytheway Mr Dirtberger, did you pick off a few slugs at Road America?

Today was the first race at the new SupermotoMN track signed up in the open class on a stock 450 ended up third for the day got beat by some guy named Eric Bostrom on a mod 525 smr and Tony Donahue on Kurt Caselli's 04 mod 525 sure was fun.

Later

So, dirtberger, did you make it onto the ****-tube? The only time I get to see SM is when it makes it onto the idiotbox. Congrats on the ride.

No tube time I have a couple of pics the newspaper guy sent me. And no I havent been to the MI track. PM me if you want to see the pics.
