Any major changes? Would '06 fit into '04 chassis and vice versa? Ignition? Exhaust?

Many thanks;)

So both engines are identical? If I bought an 06 I could slot it in and not have to change or modify anything?:)

Many thanks,
Next question; 644 v 628, which is the better motor power and torque-wise? Is the 628 a little more revvy?

I've got my eye on a '06 with uprated mains and dual valve springs. We can't agree on the price though!
Not sure whether to throw some money at my '04, spring kit, big bore or big bore and "refresh" the '06:unsure:

Hmmm:unsure:

I reckon the 80mm crank with a 105mmm bore and really big valves would last longer than the 82mm crank

westwood can do liners from a model i did up, cost was approx $260 AU inc shipping to aust for a 102mm liner

" really big valves "

Dr C made a head where he moved the inlet valves centres apart.
I think all information was lost on the web at some stage.

It might be nice to run the 570 titanium 39.9mm inlet valves in the 628
but it would require some post valve porting:D and the moving of the valve centres, a new or modified inlet rocker arm. Any ideas on that welcome:)

Plenty of compression is available if a bigger piston is used, so room to move compression wise.

I am all for a shorter stroke and larger bore, "Especially"
the shorter stroke.

Another thing that could be an improvement would be to increase the inlet tract angle which may require a move to fuel injection to gain clearance between the backbone of the frame....:spin::spin::spin:

There is always plenty to think about.

Cheers spanner

Nice ideas spanner

think it was you i discussed this with years ago.. use something like an RC8 head .. i did look for a used head gasket briefly after your suggestion to see if the studs are close .. I prolly should look into that again.

Yes we did, :)

Would be nice if RC8 head fitted but I have my doubts even if the
studs matched the water jackets and cam chain alignment could also cause
problems.

Easier to mod the Husaberg head IMO.

With a shorter stroke 550 cases might be best to use.

Shorter stroke= less rod angle or shorter rod= less reciprocating weight.

Higher RPM:cool::cool::cool:

JBS racing over here do a 102mm and 105mm piston but for a sidecar application. The 102mm is a standard liner over-bored but the 105mm is special liner?

What sort of hours on standard main bearings would I expect if I fitted the JBS 700 kit? Any idea how much more 'bang' it would make?

good idea to change at 50 -100 hrs on the 16mm wide NTNs if used both sides, even less with SKFs

100hrs is easy if you use a 20mm wide c4 roller on the drive side and 1mm end float

they may last longer than that depending on use but thats what i'm comfortable with looking at the wear with my 80mm stiffer crank.

the extra bang in mine was proportional to the extra CCs

Was the Westwood liner supplied by JBS a straight fit? The 105mm liner direct from Westwood would need machining? What piston did you use Bush?
Sorry for the dumb questions!!

BTW I'll be drooling in the old folks home long before I put 100hrs on my engine road racing! most meetings are less than an hour track time!⌚

I got the westwood 105mm liner, piston, head studs and head gaskets from JBS racing this is what jbs call the "700" kit.

the liner should have been a straight fit as they are all checked for fit in a set of 02 cases by jbs but my cases had more material in the water jacket area of teh left hand case which i took out with a dremel.

I also machined cooling grooves in the OD of the liner and later put a groove in the top of the liner for a wire ring to embed into a copper fire ring.

my kit was good except for the headgasket

CR was 11.3:1 and it had quite big squish with their piston, this is on the 80mm crank

if you get a liner direct from westwood they can make it to whatever dimensions you specify, they have details of a 650 102mm liner that i drew, the outside dimensions will be the same you just have to specify the finished ID of the bore and get a custom piston .. made after you measure the liner.

remember my engine has the stiffer 80mm crank so the theory is that your mains will not last as long with an 82mm crank

Cheers Bush, got a '06 motor now to play with, 80mm crank and twin valve spring conversion.
