Just a quick question for anyone "in-the-know", does a 2002 FC470 have a 4 speed gear box or a six speed? Or was it offered both ways? Thanks, BD

Hi BD,
6 speed

Dale

FC470

Thanks for jumping on that one Dale. I'm in Portland and an 02 470 on Ebay is just across the river. Sounds cheap for what it is, (I guess used Bergs are anyway), and I haven't heard back from the owner yet. Thanks again. BD

2002 Berg

They are 6 speed gear box and is an excellent bike.
Give it a good look over and if you make a purchase enjoy.

FC470

Well, they "pulled" the auction early claiming a mis-print. Turns out to be an '01 FC 470, not an '02. I should have been able to tell from the seat cover; all blue. Are there issues that were resolved in the '02 year for thsi model? I'm assuming they would be the same as I've experienced with my '02 400..??..Cam follower bearings, etc. Is the 470 a stroked 400? I'd love to test ride one. BD

Hi BD,
The 470 is basically a grossly over square (big bore) 400.
Pretty cool bike as is and makes a terrific foundation for an honest 450.

BD, if you ever come up north you can test out my '02 fx/fe470e. I intend to put it up for sale and get a new steed soon. I was going to do so earlier this year, but family obligations have taken up my time.

470 test ride

TM-ENDURO, why don't you come over to the GP at Goldendale on the 13th? Tons of fun! All different classes available to ride in. We could swap lies and I could ride your steed there. The kid and I are looking for a backup GP bike and it's gonna either be another Berg or another Yama-thumper. Thanks for the offer. BD[/font]

Buy Husaberg

Sorry to here about the sale but there will be another one out there, sounds like that one was not as advertised.Have messed about with many bikes in the past and the Husaberg is something special so good luck with your search.

Over-square 400

Dale, thanks for the tech info. on the 470. When you "build" it to a 450, will you typically bring the comp. ratio down as well? I'm thinking that is part of your plan, along with your cam, to produce better longevity in the Berg engine. Thanks, BD

I would be interested in hearing the 470 mods
also as it looks like I am stuck with mine. The
suspension is the real klinker though,it is MX
stiff ,yet can't run through a set of whoops
without trying to pitch you off.The suspension
actually seems to soften up the further it
compresses, the opposite of what it should.
