Well I took out an 09 Berg 450 today and I must say i was most pleasantly surprised.

I thought the average punter like myself wouldn't be able to probably notice the changes in this bike.....well i was wrong.

Immediately after sitting my rather round frame on this bike and taking off i could feel the subtle differences.

For one the EFI and the linear power that it delivers from the bottom all the way to the top is awesome making riding difficult terrain easy...and the open stuff even easier...no hesitation and no bogging.
The bike seems to just hook up and not wheelspin everywhere this must be due to the geometry of the frame, rear shock, front forks etc very nice indeed.

The handling of this bike is very 250 like. Its so light and the tip in and cornering is unlike any other 450... makes my 450 ktm feel top heavy..i switched from the Berg to a ktm 07 250 exc and could say the Berg felt as light to ride.

Also noteworthy was that the Berg is all stock suspension. It coped with big square edges fine and ate the big whoops up. The ultimate setup is only springs away or a few clickers.

So from the seat of my pants review i think the bikes a winner....well done Husaberg :)

Reliability will be the only question?? And only time will tell that....

I will be keeping an eye on that department out here in the desert where we seem to load up the bikes from all the deep sand.

All in all a great bike.....

I would have to just about say yes....

But I think everyone should take a ride on one and see for themselves :)

Cool, interestingly Adam Lees rode the stock '09 450 back to back with his full factory tricked out Husaberg Australia sponsored AORC '08 550 and he said the suspension on the '09 worked better !!

Sounds good Mick :)

So that would be Des's demo bike ??

Wise move to sit back for a while I think- persevere with that Kato a bit longer yet till the new engine proves it can hang together out in the sand.

I hope they prove trouble free as well.

Ahhh, well done Faktor, its good to hear (there must be some blue and yellow blood still running in yer veins!).

maybe I'll get a test ride when i'm up there at christmas time if Sunset cycles hasnt sold it to you by then?

Azza.

thats good and not all that surprising

new shock and fork internals and a nicer shock angle and less weight on the front, so we get nicer suspension that also has less work to do becasue of the geometry

ohh yeah it means they're fixing stuff inside the boingers and the new layout kicks arse... nice one.

so when are they avaialable?

I probably missed this minor detail in all the posts here on this,.. but when will the first lucky owners get their new bikes in Oz?... Im assuming that We will get them here about the same time, just nobody is saying much about avaialability here, other thajn "the end of the year" !

RE: so when are they avaialable?

The 450's will go to customers about mid Nov I believe and a few 570's in mid Dec with a bunch more in mid Jan '09.

Sutto you have any other info to share re this ??

RE: so when are they avaialable?

Hi Gazza!
Found out today that we will see Bergs in the second week of November info on the 570 is thin only because we are simply told "Bergs will be despatched for delivery 2nd week of November" so I hope this includes 570's.
I have alot of very anxious little boys out there just waiting for Santa to arrive...they won't be disappointed!
Best Regards

RE: so when are they avaialable?

Hi thanks, for that I have "heard" that not many 570's before Christmas, just a few, and of those only a small number to each dealer, bulk of the bikes between now and Christmas will be 450's

RE: so when are they avaialable?

thats ok for me, as Im waiting on a 450!.. guess that means I better start polishing up my 05 ready to sell it!... or should I be a bit more cautious and store it away in case of any teething problems with the 09?

RE: so when are they avaialable?

I really hate to read this thread because it means I'll be selling my beloved '05. Wah!!!

Yesterday the first used FE450 -09 came up on www.blocket.se (swedens largest place to sell used stuff) :D
79,900sek used compared to the new price which is 89.900sek is normally rather much for a used bike. But in this case it just might be right

RE: Re: so when are they avaialable?

this sucks! I am just now getting my KTM 505 sorted out, dang get, now I have bike lust again.

How is the seat height compared to previous 'bergs? I owned a 2002 FE501 and really liked the bike. The e-start wasn't that reliable but the bike was light with a modest seat height. I may add a 2nd bike to the stable in 2009 and the Husaberg is a top contender.

Greg

Greg,
The seat height is normal? I'm 5'10" and can sit and touch fine, as for the E-starter it is great, spins over with no hesitation at all!
Do yourself a favour get down to your local Berg dealer and lay your money down.
Best Regards

well havent had a go on an '09 but had a phone call from a friend who's an experienced ecpert class rider whos ridden many bikes over the years but the last few years has had a series of ktm 450's.

well he had an '09 450 for the day yesterday and just rang to say that the bike is on a whole other level to anything else he's ridden and his next bike is definatly not going to be a ktm.

he went on say that whilst he didnt really notice any major advantages over his ktm on open moorland going once it got into the trees on single and double track the bike was like nothing else he'd ever ridden and is just such a leap forward over anything else on the market.

guess he liked it.

whilst we've heard many of the above comments before, and quite believe them, its just makes it more real when its coming from someone you know and have ridden with - for me anyway

my resistance is weakening
