'07 suspension parts differences

I have seen a bit of hype regarding the '07 suspension parts as being much better. What specifically is better? Are the parts something that I could purchase and put in my '06? How about the kit for the Force models with the polished internal parts? Any idea of costs? I'm likely going to take the suspension off and tune it, or more likely have it tuned by a local tuner very soon. I may have to follow Taffy's recommendations and polish everything myself. The stock valving actually works pretty well, but I need increased small bump compliance (I miss the Paoili / Ohlins of my TM or Zoke TC / Sachs of my Husky). I want to get the suspension up to the level of the rest of the bike.

Hi tm enduro
do you have closed cartridge fork or just a standard fork?
the 07 berg have 12mm aluminum cartridge rod 06 have 14mm steel rod, what other
changes they have made, who knows stay tuned since I have 07 on order
I did see a SXS fork apart the other day and it did not impress me
I might try to transplant a KYB cartridge into WP fork it is a little spendy, that be on
hold for awhile
so long VIKING

The aluminum cartridge/12mm diameter are certainly not anything earth-shattering, basically just a change towards industry standards that other manufacturers already were doing.

If your bike started off as a factory bike, maybe the valve stacks are not standard. The non-standard frame geometry changes on your bike can affect suspension performance too, since the geometry changes seem to have been made to influence total weight bias. There are lots of great WP tuners who can dial your stuff in. A lot of us here work on our own stuff too.

When you say small bumps, do you mean roots and rocks, etc? If so , you need less high speed compression damping. Adjusting the compression screw on the forks really won't help, as it really just affects the low speed circuit. Remember, low/high speed refers to the speed the suspension components are moving at, not the bike speed . Most times, small. sharp-edged rocks or roots make the suspension react the fastest, thus these hits are handled by the high speed part of the valve stack.

My Husaberg has outstanding small bump compliance. I have no doubt that with a simple revalve your forks will work to your satisfaction.

I ride roots and rocks and rocks and rocks. The suspension on my bike was brand new stock 06 parts, no factory settings. The issue is high speed dampning for sure and the stack does need to be changed, I'm just trying to find out what else there is that I might choose to do.

i knew you'd get standard suspoension, it was always going to be a secret too far to get anything else.

forget modifying the internals because there is soooooo much that's changed for '07 inside the forks that you copuldn't afford it. new forks would be cheaper and as viking says; the internals on WP are quite upsettingly poo.

why don't you just go straight to my susp[ension settings in that long thread and have a go OOOOORRRR take vikings settings.

regards

Taffy
