07 FE550E Tail Light Question

Now that I have the bike, I'd like to change the lens to a style that can illuminate the license plate. My 07 is the same bike the USA gets and has a one piece rear fender.

I have the lens listed as #80 in the chassis parts manual. In the AUS manual, there is a lens #41 that is part of the #40 assembly. Does the #41 lens have a clear section? I will also change to the longer #15 number plate carrier. Does this carrier sit more vertical than the short #14 carrier? I want the plate to be more visible. Will the #40 assembly mate up correctly with the #15 carrier?

Sounds like you need to go with the 2000 thru 2005 tail light assembly and license plate/mud guard. Doesn't look as sleek but I like it. I've been told it looks "Norranderish"!

you could try the DRC Edge 2 LED tail lite click here

It has the features you want plus it is LED and will save about 18 watts . I have not picked one up yet, looks like it will work

I've seen the Sicass one before. The DRC unit looks really interesting. I'll have to call and find out if it might fit.
Thanks for the info.

Yes it does - see photo in my gallery

Yes it will - the photos show the #15 number plate carrier with #40 lens assembly.
Check the rubber lens seal before you order/buy. Mine doesn't seal real well.

Hope this helps.

Shonky thanks for the photo, it shows exactly what I wanted to know.
