Just an update,
I took the 650 out for a 22 mile ride with no overheating . The only thing different this time was that I added a cooler to the lower radiator hose. I dont know if this is the cure, but the price was right. It is a 6-8" pipe with fins cut in it made out of billet aluminum. I found it on ebay, the cost was $25.00 delivered. They claim a 10-20F drop in coolant temp. I may put one in the upper hose as well. I figured for $25.00 I cant go wrong. Now it may be the motor is beginning to loosen up and I changed my riding habits a little that may have helped as well, but I dont think so.
There are a few guy's selling these things on ebay, it would be great to have someone else try one and see what results they get.
