Note that it seems that the front lobe is higher, but that's only on the photo. They are both up at the same level and on the compression stroke.
To do it right you need to set the lobes up at 2 and 10 o'clock on compression stroke, drop the chain down the guide, front side, up through the rear side (I used the kick lever but I guess one can also spin the flywheel to do that), and the two chain should connect at about 1'30 o'clock, and at that point the two dots are aligned after spinning twice, meaning back on compression stroke.
And the chain is really really tight at that point.
