Oil filter cover - threads stripped in the bore

A follow-up question to my oil change parts thread. I've learnt while doing my oil change that I've inherited a problem with 1 of the 2 bolts, the interior thread (in the bore) is stripped...therefore the bolt threads in okay and just spins, without holding any.

I'm attaching a pic for reference.

Due to the proximity to the cavity for the oil filter, i don't want to attempt a heli-coil. My thoughts have been to get a longer bolt, cut the head off, use some red-threadlock, screw in the stud and let it set. Then use a lock washer and nut?

Any insight would be appreciated. Thanx.

This is good option Loctite Form-a-Thread , Stripped Thread Repair , I think this is the part #28654 or 561128-2. using it plus maybe a little longer bolt would be good. I used on a water pump on my car with no problems did use a little long bolts. Not good for high torque but will be good for oil cover.

Thanks, I'll look for that product.

Regarding using a longer bolt, would that work? I'm assuming the bore is just deep enough to take the OEM bolt. But I guess I won't know until I try.

I've never heard of that loctite product, I'm sure it'll come in handy in the garage and amongst friends hahah
 
Take a lot longer and see now far it goes in measure it and that’s how long it should be but 1mm shorter
 
If there are still any good threads left deeper than the stock bolt a proper length stud with loctite should be okay
