An aluminium cylinder nicasil treated can be bored out to have an iron liner no problem, have had it done many times on my ducati engines. You may want to be picky about who does the job as if its not done right the liner will sink :/

We have a company here that do work for the likes of race teams but Thumperracing would get the job considering the experience they have had with these.

With that said, I probably should revisit the viability of their own manufactured cyl.

I don’t think Mat (Bergslmerg) did a thread etc on his rebuild. Would be interesting to go over what he has achieved the second time around.

Indeed. You want to hire some bloke that has done the same exact cylinders before and has been known good working or give the guy a sample cylinder already with a liner in it that is known good working. Both usually works, Ive learned this the hard way :)

The ported head from Anders Berglund arrived today. Payment is a standard head in return. Pretty bluddy fair deal I reckon.

Jon, it hasn’t been sent yet.

I’ve asked for the numbers to pass on to you.

Good. I will try to find a local source as I cant order from US everytime I open up the barrel (hopefully that will not happen too many times..)

Engine and parts have arrived.

The 610 motor looks good. The piston kit/cyl is unused. I don’t know if the crank is balanced to suit. Ported head looks nice.

I have enough parts now to build another 610 with a new 610 piston kit and new balanced crank to suit the 610 which would complete the blown 570. Also a ported head by the Berglund Bros.

Then there is the standard sweet running 570.

Two bikes, three motors. I either keep the 570 sitting there as a spare or keep my eyes out for another project bike.

Keep the 570 engine for the future!

I agree mate.

It is a sweet running motor not worthy of messing with plus if I sell a bike it may as well be standard 570.

Plus if I come home with ANOTHER bike that would stress relations with the good wife even a little further!

A 610 trail hack and a 663 ADV bike would have to suffice.

I just have to start putting some money together for the 663 kit.

Finally my cam is home. It was sent with priority mail the 3rd of March...

As the lobes are dark I used a white cloth so you can see the difference from a standard 570 cam.

It's not the most beautiful job but as long as it works.
