Keihin arrived.

Also check if you have wear on the carb body

With use they get groove were the wheels work and slide will not do it's job correctly because the front plate will be too far away from the front of the carb.

I've corrected this using devcon 2 ton epoxy, filling the grooves the correcting it with a small file and sand paper.

That's not all, but no more time now. Will get back latter.

And this is before tuning :D

Again

Don't want to be bothering no more, but other thing that I've made to the carb:

The front plate of the carb also wears, and they are not cheap, there are also aftermarket plates with different thickness, that you can play.

The thing that makes your plate work in contact with the front of the carb is a rubber that works as a dumper, you might also want to check it.

In my case changing it wasn't enough, so I ended up putting a gasket between the plate and the body of the slide, that worked very well for me, and it's still there. The gasket must be strong or other wise it will come apart, I used a good gasket that has a steel mesh incorporated inside.

Maybe you don't need nothing of this troubles, hope you don't ;)

So here are some more pict

Hi
Seems you already figured out the choke and hotstart plungers, but for what it's worth, looking into the holes where the choke or hotstart screws in, the choke will have a small hole drilled in it, which connects to a port that goes down into the bowl, while the hotstart will just be blank. Different bikes had different configurations of choke and hotstart, while the Honda carb you got, both screw in from the side, on a Yamaha the hotstart screws in from the top, and a KTM or HusaberG carb doesn't have a hotstart at all.

No, only phillips head looking screws.

Google Vampliers. They will grip the head or any screw, .

I've been a marine engineer for the last 15 years. Never heard of these!

WHY THE F@@K NOT!! I've been drilling, using easyouts even sawing a new flat head on a screw!

Thanks fir the tip!

I think that they are a relatively new Japanese made product. I feel the same way. These pliers work great.

whos the goto person for spares for fcr?? need new choke plunger for mine, also got some wear in the body and the slide is loose so maybe need new front plate

This thread is quickly turning into the keihin carb go to thread! I like it!

I'm enduring the 10 hr train home today to see my family for 36 hours sob sob I know. I'm going to get some tools to strip the carb. Are the Allen bolts mm or the old one! 47/155ths etc

Hi
..... and a KTM or HusaberG carb doesn't have a hotstart at all.

the Husaberg does :cry::cry:

Allens hold the keihin stuff and so do we! spare throttle plate and O ring in stock as well as the hot start button. you'll also need a 'U-piece' fuel pipe (something Allens won't hold) and a T-junction in the fuel pipe set up.

Taffy

hm is throttle plate and seal, and a choke button/lever?

The carb has been cleaned out. Had a look inside and there are no track marks in the body that concern me.

New jet kit has been installed and it's almost ready to be put back on.

Do the top works that lift up the internals require greasing of any other internal parts? If so what grease to use?

The external has cleaned up well.

The missing hotstart cable has been tracked down and is currently on its way to me. Wondering if I can swap the hotstart and choke over do the choke is extended and hotstart a button.

I see the screws are JIS? Anyone know the thread on them? I've not got my carb at home with me and thinking of just getting some bolts instead. Much easier
