I took apart my '03 FE 501 and my sister's 05 FS450 for a well needed inspection. Motors were becoming very noisy. Lucky there was no serious damage, so I can get away with not replacing the conrods or pistons.

I had some shiny new stainless steel intake valves made for 501 and putting in the KTM dvsk in both 450 and 501. I wasn't sure if it would be worthwhile to have 37/32 valves made for 501, so I made them standard 35mm. I may try the 37/32 at a later stage, I haven't checked if there is enough space between the intake valves to fit 37mm's.

As a test, I decided to try both bikes without the CB, and no rebalance of the crank.
I will rebalance them if necessary when I replace the conrods.

I have had spacers made for the CB, and I'm going to use the NJ2206 20mm wide roller on the lhs, on the rhs I'm using the normal NJ206.

So the idea is to ride them like this and see how bad or not the vibrations are with the CB out.

I will post some more pics as I go along.

In the pictures in the above post, the new valves have a much deeper dish than the OEM, so some loss of compression there. The new valves are lighter than the OEM, but I still need to weigh them to know exactly by how much.

The 8mm spacer for the CB is made the same OD as the lip on the inner race of the bearing, and the spacer is a slip fit on the crank. I was not sure if it should have a slight interference fit or no, but I didn't think it would really matter. Please let me know if I am wrong in this assumption...
